08 Max SE with bose w/o nav

I just bought an 08 SE w/ bose w/o navigation. DOes anyone know if I can install my Kenwood DDX7019? I'm sure it will fit in the double din opening, but i think there will still be too much space there. Also I'm sure i will lose the display where the factory radio works. Cany anyone chime in and offer any advice. I love the kenwood, cuz I have the nav unit and the sirius controller with it. I'm going to have it installed by the audio shop local to me i just wnat ot know if it can be done or am i going to spend a lot of money and it look like crap sitting in the dash.

Keep in mind that, if you do that, you will lose all of your onboard computer displays (avg mpg, avg speed, dte, etc etc....as well as door open warnings) If you're cool with that, it can be done. Somebody makes a dash kit and antenna adapter for it, I forgot where I saw it. I wish I could be a bit more helpful.

You are going to loose your 2 displays above the radio as well as the left side steering wheel controls and blue-tooth if equiped. To keep the steering wheel controls, you'll have to purchase the PAC SWI-X ($36.00). To keep your bluetooth, you'll have to purchase the NIRD-01. ($235.99)

you dont lose the display when you install a radio...

if you get the metra double din the unit will be installed lower in the console (around where your tape deck/cd player are). The factory display is tied into more then just the radio. Youll still have the ac/mpg functions etc. The radio display however will no longer function since your not using the stock radio.

I agree. I have a double din Kenwood unit installed in my Max and the only thing you lose is the Radio display and the steering wheel controls for the radio. Everything else works fine. Congrats on your new Max!!

Let me clear it up for you, for the 07-08 you will loose the main screen no matter what..Although the climate screen will still work..The 04-06 is different from 07-08 guys, its not the same..For 07-08 everyone has lost the main display screen.

thanks everyone. I figured i would lose the main display and keep the climate control display. Hey Mikal do you have any pics of the kenwood installed in your max? I'm hoping the shop can install it in the dash as flush as possible. Also if anyone has any pics of a double din unit installed in their 07 or 08 i'd love to see them. Just trying to get som ideas of which way to go.

What about the bluetooth feature? Will you lose that also? I was told that you'll lose all of the displays. Thanks for the clarification.

Not sure about bluetooth..this is why I never did the swap..As much as I want to, it makes the car look cheap with that huge black screen displaying nothing..most likely I think you will loose bluetooth.

Sorry I don't have any pics, but I can take some if need be. I have an 04 Max also and it was stated that w/ the 07-up Max's it is different. I figured it would be the same. My bad.

Maybe we'll find someone that has taken on this project. I see you are from my home town. I graduated from Choctaw High School.

Do you realize that the 07/08 models aren't even offered with a tape deck?

Welcome to the org. Good luck with your new car. The one thing you will lose is your warranty.
