Went to my first dyno tuning session, man the Split Second FTC can be a real b!tch to program. Had the first tuning session at Ptuning in Manassass Virginia, Toan really knows his stuff and is doing a great job so far. Preliminary numbers after 5 hours and up to 7lbs of boost and 39 pulls later were 312.6Whp and 306.8 FTLBs of TQ

Est 370 crank HP (about 115hp over stock) (5AT)

The car is being tuned on a Dyno Dynamics Dynamometer machine which has also been called a heart breaker because it normally list Dyno pulls about 10-15% below a Dynojet. Toan estimates on a Dynojet the car would be sitting on about 345+whp with 6-7 PSI

Have to remove my IM and drop in some 350Z HKS cold plugs (got them at Ptuning, then take it back next month for the 7-8psi tune and play with the timing...

So it's a start that I'm extremely happy with and the 2-1/2 hr drive home was awesome...
GREAT numbers. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see you do a 1/4 mile.

Someone should calculate what the approx. 1/4 mile time would be with these numbers. Again, awesome HP + TQ numbers.

Chern - I thought with turbo you would be getting more hp. When you say an estimated 370 hp on a post above - is that you are aiming for?

Oh yeah there is still a lot of untapped power, but I need to drop the NGK cold plugs in first then retune in the 7=8psi boost range and mess with timing. Tuning is totally different than just Dynoing and the process is long and expensive. Plus I need to take the time and tune it in phases so you identify potential problems, correct them and continue tuning. As Toan of PTuning stated, I'll tune your car to 400whp if you want (the kit has the capability), the rest of the engine/tranny may not like it though...

So again, these are just the 1st real tuning numbers after the Turbo install. When I get back from business travel this month I'll be bumping those number up. TRUST ME!!!

My goal is 350-370+whp range which translates to an SAE corrected reading of about 420-450+hp where as a stock max is 255hp (also I'm Auto so these numbers are rediculous)

Last, the tuning was done on a Dyno Dynamics dyno which normally reads about 10-15% lower than a Dynojet. Toan estimates on a Dynojet my slip would read 340+whp right now!!! But really the numbers are good but a true test is 1/4 mile track times and can't wait for the racing season to start back up next month in my area... 12's here I come...

Check post #36, PTuning for safety reasons will not let you inside the booth to film, they do however have windows to look into the booth (plexiglass / soundproofing make for a bad VID!!!) while the tuning is going on, what I thought was cool (because the garage was real cold) they have a flat panel plasma in the warm waiting room area and they will let you watch the Dyno during testing including the Dyno screen as the numbers are registering...

View of the plasma in the lounge...

Quick!!! Someone get this man a "Get Well" card because his maxima is SICK...

Very impressive I must say... You rasied the bar on the possiblities and expectations of this car surpassed them.Think about it... If Maxima's could talk they would probably say to your car "When I grow up, I wanna be just like you". LOL... Great job.

255hp is not really 255whp. That 255hp at the crank, no?

Correct...

A Max off the lot (with a 5AT) that advertises 255hp means they are running around 205whp...

The Dyno graph above is WHEEL HORSE POWER (whp), not crank... So in my first tuning I'm about 105hp over stock and my intention is to increase that during my next tuning session (we never tuned in the 7-8 psi of boost range nor tweak timing for those ranges either). And as I stated earlier, the Dyno Tuning was done on a Dyno Dynamics dyno which reads about 10-15% lower than a DynoJet, if I were to Dyno the car right now on a DynoJet, PTuning estimates the car would be putting down around 340+whp right now... And the car feels it!!!

FYI, this SFR stage II kit is designed for 375+whp which translates to 450 crank hp... do the math over stock...

Turbonetics T60-1, Tail 38mm waste gate and blowoff valve, Sparco Intercooler, Greddy Auto Boost Controller, AEM wide band monitor, Split Second FTC piggy back, 440cc injectors. The kit is designed for 378+whp for the stage II. My ride is still going through tuning. Going back for tuning for the 7-8 PSI range plus timing...

Thanks for the props...

Sorry no Elite interior swap for me because the car is lighter and I can hold 5 people which I do often...

Here are some high pics... (before intercooler was powder coated black)
