Lighting Problems!

Has anyone had any problems with the lights not working on 2004 model. My headlights, driving and parking lights will not come on at all. Turn signals and flashers (front and rear) are working fine, back-up lights and brake lights are fine as are all of the interior lights. I have checked all fuses in all three fuse blocks and changed location of all relays trying to troubleshoot in case of a faulty relay, everything was o.k. . I don't know anything else to try and could not find any info searching the forums. Thanks for any help

I'd try to replace the fuses for the headlight/parking lights just because.

I did rearrange the fuse's in a different location than where they came from and still nothing. Is there a control box just for lighting?

There are 3 fuse boxes in the 6th gen maximas. 1 inside cabin to the left of the steering wheel on the dash. 1 in the engine compartment to the left of the battery. 1 in the engine compartment to the right of the fill tube for the windshield washer fluid. Good Luck. oh and by the way, most of the headlight fuses are located in the one on the passengers side by the windshield washer fluid fill tube thing.

Also, is your setup HID or just regular halogen ?? You might have a ballast problem if its HID.

They are HID. It can't just be the headlight or ballast because no parking lights or driving lights will come on. Other than lights mentioned everything else on the car is working perfect. I have went through fuses and relays twice with no luck. I am reading through the service manual to try to troubleshoot but there is alot to the lighting circuit on 6th generation. Thanks for everyones help

Still needing help if anyone can help me with this issue. I also found another problem while I was trying to correct the issues with my lighting. If I tried to throttle up,engine would only rev to 1500 rpm. Called dealership and they told me it was a problem in the wiring harness. 943 dollars later and 10 hours replacing wiring harness from dash to front of car, same scenario. No headlights, tail lights, parking lights, cornering lights, tag lights and cannot rev engine higher than 1500 rpm. All lighting including interior, turn signals, brake lights work fine. Everything else on the car is working perfect. I have spent numerous hours looking through the FSM with no luck. Any ideas?

This exact thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago (except teh rev part) So the fuse is not blown? (the lower right fuse in the 3rd fuse box, to the right of the fill tube ) That's the fuse you need to look at. Have you done anything (electrical wise) to the car recently? I found that when I re installed my taillights after putting on my 07 bumper that I pinched the wires to the rear tailight grounding them out, everytime I put in a new fuse it would pop. All good now...

Fuses and relays are all ok. I had some body work done on the driver front of the car. Nothing that could have damaged any electrical especially since I have put in a new harness.

All I did was pinch the 2 wires down against each other (and the metal ) when I bolted the tail light on. Here's a pic:

The difference is your not popping fuses so it sounds like it may be something else...

Just fixed problem. The second from the right(standing in front of car)fusible link on the battery post broke and just had a hairline crack in it. Could not see it and removed the terminal and checked with ohm meter. Just wish I knew about this before I spent nearly 1000 dollars on new harness and alot of time for installation and reading service manual and testing. Hope this may help someone in the future. Thanks for help guys.

Did you look at all three fuse boxes? They should be labeled.

I called couple dealers to find out if they knew which fuse makes the dome lights work to my surprise no one knew. Most service advisors transfered me to the parts department, parts did not know either.
For future reference if your dome lights go out the fuse is label batt saver

I believe it the box on the left side of the engine cover, down towards the bottom right. You checked ALL the fuses? I'd check again.
