few questions, dont trust this thing....

well as you may or may not know, precat failed, clogged up exhuast blew headgasket; i had to get around so drove it; seized it up. picked up a motor out of a wrecked maxima with 55k on it and had it swapped on by a local shop that fix's all my cars after i mess them up.

anyway, i went and picked her up yesterday talked to the tech who did the swap; he mentioned that when they did the initial start it ran like crap because the cam sensor was bad on the motor i baught; swapped my old one in and it was fine but then it was throwing check engine lights for the cam position sensor; bank a-2 as well as air fuel ratio mixture (said most likely a dirty maf)

said he cleared the codes and if they stick around to bring it back.

drove it 10 miles and they came back, plugged in my reader; 2 for cam position sensor advanced timing bank a-2, and the a/f ratio; cleared them

drove another 10 miles and they came back; same codes; cleared them; again and continued to drive it as i didnt notice any ill effects of them

since that last clearing i have put 75 miles on her and they havnt come back.... could it just have been the ecu needing to adapt to the new sensor/motor?

- i was about 40 miles away from my house, stopped at a slight uphill stop sign so i went to give it a little gas to get her going as its a new clutch/ss clutch line that im not use to; only to have it rev to 1400-1500 and stay there.... i could floor it and it wouldnt move. turned her off let it sit for a min while i was freaking out; started it back up and it was fine. any ideas?

final thing; how do i reset my airbag light? i had my passenger seat out when it had a blown headgasket (dont ask) and noticed it come on; figured it was because it didnt see the passenger seat/airbag; but now that its all back it still is on and id like to know how to reset it

Thanks

Not sure about everything else but you could try this for the airbag.

Note: Timing is KEY, use a stopwatch if you have to.

1) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
2) After the AIRBAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds and then goes out, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
3) Wait 4 seconds
4) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
5) After the AIRBAG warning lamp lights for 7 seconds and then goes out, turn IGNITION off within 1 second.
6) Wait 4 seconds
7) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)

9) Wait 4 seconds
10) Turn IGNITION on (but don't start car)
11) Wait 3 seconds
12) Turn IGNITION off
13) Wait 2 seconds
14) START Car
15) Turn IGNITION off
16) Wait 2 seconds
17) START Car

AIRBAG warning lamp should blink for 7 seconds and then go out and never come back on. If it does, then you have a problem.

yup paid for the motor/install out of my pocket as i am way way way out of warrentee.

not the slightest bit; made a tight left hander late at night having a little fun; apexed it and there was a slight dip; which was just enough to dislodge the cat internals and raise hell.

once again this thing made me question it; got on the highway gave it some gas in 4th; got to 5000-5500 rpm and missed hard; felt like it hit the rev limiter; needless to say i babied it home after that

do you think if i did the full ethrottle reset it would help some of these issues?

Worked for Me

The initial steps posted in this thread helped me get rid of the AIRBAG warning lamp light. !!!!!!! WOOT! This was after I installed the OEM nissan ipod interface!! No worries the AIRBAG warning light now works properly.

The steps seem crazy but they work!

Many thanks.
