I have the same issue with mine about ever 3-4 months. Mine though is known as to why I'm having that problem. It's because about 3 years ago when I was in an accident the bodyshop in which worked on my car forgot to switch out an A/C hose. The hose has a small puncture so the freeon tends to drain a bit quicker than usual. I'm too lazy to go to the dealership to have the hose changed (it's just $100), so about every 3-4 months I buy some R-134A, and fill it up. About 10 minutes or so and you're back to some cold A/C. Maybe one day I'll decide to finally take it in for the dealership to get that properly repaired, but until than this works, lol.

Many people have had the low-pressure hose with early defects near the metal crimps. My car had both a bad hose at ~40k and then a bad o-ring on the high-side at 60k miles. Talk about some cheap-**** parts...... Nissan must have sourced parts from Borat.

....you could get that in any auto parts store. I use one called Artic Freeze (I believe, I know it has the word Freeze in it though). It also brings a hose in which tells you when your A/C is filled up to the recommended level. The compartment where you put the freeon is located by where the windshield wiper fluid is located. When you open your hood and locate it go up a bit, and a bit towards the right. You'll see a metal bar of sorts with a black "twist off" cap. It's right there. All you do is insert the nozzle piece of the R-134 fluid and pump away. It'll take about 3 minutes or so for you to feel that metal tube very cold. It is imperative that you have that the car on with the A/C on full blast otherwise I guess it might damage your system (maybe someone more knowledgeable can shed light as to why it has to be on full blast).

The best thing to do is go to any local shop and fix the leak.
I have been in the AC business for awhile and people really crack me up with this just add some gas.
To start with, normal AC system should never loose any gas, period.
Now if you have leak and pressure in the AC system drops, guess what ? moisture from the air will enter you system and by adding 134a in to your car that has moisture in the system it will make it worst it’s just matter of time.
To have permanent fix you have to fix the leak, then vacuum the system to 500 microns or less, check for leaks and only then add the 134a.

Had I known earlier

Laugh all you want, adding 134a in to your car every 3 months sound like permanent solution, not mention that you have to be licensed to work with any refrigerant gas and if you ever get caught by EPA you will be surprised how much you will have to pay.
Not mention releasing refrigerant in to the atmosphere it really helps ozone layers it really does.

EPA??? What's that?
....and the little "laugh" icon is not because I think it's a funny issue, on the contrary. I wish I had known this long ago, it just seemed a very quick fix to me, but based on what you indicated, it's far from that in the long run.

Never heard of the EPA before. Is this an agency only established in states where you have to pass emission tests? If so, that explains it. Here in Florida all you do is get your insurance, go to the tag agency and get your new registration and that's that.

You have three types of refrigerants:
CFC = Chlorofluorocarbon, commonly used CFC are R-11, R-12.
HCFC = hydrochlorofluorocarbons, commonly used HCFC is R-22 this is typically used for your house cooling.
HFC = HydroFluoroCarbon, commonly used HFC is R134a. The reason why you can buy 134a refrigerant is because the Ozone depletion potential is Zero and HFC will NOT damage the ozone in the stratosphere, How ever you still need to be licensed to do the work.

Also there is health effect and Global warming evidence. Such as:
Skin cancer
Cataracts can more easily occur
Timber growth is reduced
Crop yields are lowered
Marine life and food chains are impaired
Immunity against disease is reduced and the list goes on and on.
Any way I’m done preaching.

However, I then went to AutoZone and purchased the R134a Fluid....14 mins later, my a/c blows VERy cold...
I am still going to check out the hoses myself on sunday, but i feel very confident that i have fixed the problem..... FOR NOW...

I live in californa where we dont really have a winter... I lived in Northern Arizona and Norther Idaho ... So any place where it doesnt snow or get below 45's to ME you cant really says its winter LOL...I has been between 67-73 for the last 3 weeks... a few days of rain... but 9/10 days are 70+... I use my A/C very often

To answer your question why EPA is involved with the refrigeration and cooling industry is because the CFC and HCFC refrigerants have ability to deplete the ozone layer.

You sound like a very intelligent person, however... you lost my backing when you started talking about GLOBAL WARMING... BUT this thread is not about the EPA... or crop yields ... so ill try to stay on topic..
Thanks to everyone for ALL the advice.. i willl for sure look into getting the hoses checked out ... Ill keep everyone posted
BTW... that r134 crap is Fawkin Expensive LOL... If i had to do this once a month i would be very upset.. LOL 32.08 for a can

I'm scared to know if something else breaks...ill probably have a 2,000 dollar deductable!!
Peace everyone.. Our car is still awesome!

After cold winter recently I had to turn A/C ON and.....yes you guessed it right, it wont blow cold air but warm air. Just bought r-134a can from Autozone for $17 and A/C back on track in just 5 minutes. I am sure it's about time to change hose but let's see how far I can go with r-134a can.

Its a closed system you shouldnt have to refill. Have them re check for a leak. If thats not it check the condenser and tightness of the ac belt. Could it be that its cold and just the weather is hotter? Check the temp in the vent and see if its appropriate.

Make sure your car isnt overheating due to the radiator fans not coming on, the first symptom i got when the car was overheating was the a/c cutting out due to high pressure, i thought the compressor was failing but then noticed the temp guage was in the red, there is no warning light for overheat on these cars, just the guage, and they overheat real quick when the radiator fans dont run and you are at idle.
Nissan service tech told me he is seeing a lot of defective fan assemblies come in, so be aware of this issue, if the fans are defective alot of engines are going to get ruined.

My brother was stuck in his Max for 6 hours when Hurricane Rita came thru Houston. This is exactly what happened to him. Be careful.

I think there is a quality control problem with the fan motors, when they burn up the wiring harness they are attached to that is serious. Nissan hasnt acknowledged it but the techs know about it, and it boils down to an inferior part that is crucial to protect the engine.
For all you guys with custom work, or people out of warranty, consider buying a quality aftermarket electric fan. For people still in warranty, ***** about it now and get new fan motors installed while in warranty. This is BS if its true it is a common problem.
