wow... what a pos....

i am officialy 110% done with this car. done, no more, not ever ever again will i purchase a maxima.

make a sharp lefthander, precat crumbles clogs exhuast, blows headgasket/gets sucked back in; seized up motor

dropped 2500 on a new used motor/install, spitting out check engine lights like crazy. local vw dealer has 0% apr financing on 08 gti's; so i went and looked decided im going to try to trade her in tommorrow; so pulled all my audio gear, out of the trunk; as well as put the stock intake back on finished that after a few hours in freezing weather; only to want to run to the gas station up the street to toss a few bucks of gas in so the light isnt on, crank the car and it fires up first try like the newish motor always has; only to notice that my tach isnt registering anything....

threw it a quick little blip (200-300 above idle..) and it jumped to 1200 and sat there
tried to blip it again; nothing. NOT ****.

took it for a ride around my neighborhood and the speedo does not register anything as well.

gauges were not touched all night long, nor were any connectors other than the maf....

i am really at a loss of words about this car, i want to go burn it.

hopfully vw doesnt rape me to bad on the trade seeing as how i have 107.5k miles.

as my mechanic uncle has told me since day one and i havnt learned

jap cars were made to be disposable, replace after 100k miles, where as a german car is built to last decades.

i hope his saying does me well

Generalization

That's funny. I put 60K on my 95 Maxima then I sold it to my friend who is still driving it without problems. He has put another 160K on it. Still going strong.

I'm willing to bet that you are the type of person that will always have problems with their cars regardless of make and model.

I thought I read you still drove the car after the cat blew causing the motor to seize?

It's my understanding the VQ is basically indestructable?

Good thing you didn't end up with my wheels huh?

Good luck man...

Wow ok check the fuses for the gauges you said you removed your audio system so you were probally careless and blew a fuse. Also ( JAP) cars are IMO WAY betetr than German cars, Are you kidding me there are a ton of members her with 100k+ on there cars, Honda's, Toyotas will drive to you kill them. Ever car has it's share of issues hell they are built by man not.machine. There are mistakes and bad apples everywere. Go ahead buy a VW I had a GTI 07 Stg 2 made 285hp and 330 Trq. But thats it. You can spend 10k and barlleymake over 300 whp. There DV's break and the PCV's also break. All their parts are way exspensive. Thats why I got out of it it's kinda hard to drop 1k on exhaust for a 4 banger. The turbo is small, like you fist. German in my IMO are over rated year there are nice just hope nothing ever breaks and don't modding unless you have very deep pockets..

ok these arent "japanese" cars anymore.
perhaps technically yes, the parts are made in japan, with a japanese name on it, but all maximas have been assebled in america since 03.
and in case you hvent been paying attention, american cars suck.

and yea out of every country that produces cars, ESPECIALLY GERMANY, the japanese cars last the longest, hands down. toyota? honda? nissan?
they are the benchmark for longeivity.....

you think volkswagons have reliability? is that a joke? from what i hear they are more problematic than todays american bigname cars. ill give you the fact that OLD benz' are tanks. they are indestructable. but surely not BMW. yea the engines are sound, but ive never met a BMW that was made before 1995 that didnt have a plethora of electrical issues.

how many 3rd and 4th and 5th gen maximas have i seen or read about having 230, 250 or 300+ k miles on them with minimal problems? orginal transmissions? radiators? probably close to a hundred; including my own 93, which i beat the LIVING **** OUT OF and it was still running the day i sold it with 230,000 miles......or my 96, which was running with zero problems to 141,000 miles - the day it was totalled.

and i rarely go in the 6th gen forums. but when i do i almost always see a thread about how someone is pissed off at their car. this is a daily thing here....
go to the 4th or 3rd gen forums. i see those "my car is a POS" threads like once a month, and usually is the result of poor maintenance or other significant external factors.

so im sorry you bought an ugly american boat of a car. im sorry youve had to go through this. but dont degrade the nissan name as a result.
in my opinion the maxima was beginning to die in 2003, and was fully dead by 2004. that is all.

You got a lemon, I know people with new VW's that have problems too. Your uncle doesn't know what he's talking about. I have a 98 with 200K and the only unscheduled maint. ever needed was a knock sensor. You just got a lemon, that's all. I bet either of my Max's will be rolling longer than any vw of the same year, with fewer problems. And I can do most of the work myself, not like a german car. And parts are pretty cheap too.

Did you have any problems prior to 107K? When did the warratny end? I have no idea I never buy new.

Get a TRUE Japanese car and you will not be disappointed

I agree with the guy who said that the Max went downhill after 03. Now it's a huge car, and I deliberately bought an 00SE than a newer 02-03 because I wanted the DEK not the 3.5. I'm sorry about your car, I'd be really upset, but I disagree with your uncle's statement. I have never had any problems with my Max, and would drive it forever if I could.

that is straght BS. who said japaneese cars dont last more than 100k? speak for your self buddy... my civic has 93 civic has 178,000 miles and i still runs like a new car. My friends accord has 148k and still runs like a new car. My other firnds 98 maxima had 188k and that thing ran like new car. dont ever insult japaneese cars like that again.

and i have 04 max with zero problems and 53k. Just let you know maxima v6 engines are top 10 best engines in the world.

actually, to be specific, the VQ has been rated by Wards as one of the top 10 best-engines since 1995. so thats 1995 - 2007.

13 years of domination.

next time your monkey mechanic tries to bs you, just direct him to this website.

the vq was awarded as one of the best engines in the world this year too so i dont think anyone can talk **** about the vq. it would have won if bmw didn introduced the twin turbo v6 they make now. my 2k i30 just 107k miles and i have to do some maintanance as i think the old owner didn care as much but the engine still run strong and the tranny is not bad and the paint and body looks better than some of the new cars so buddy please dont talk **** ab8 japanese cars. i
