how do the high beams work ?

In the 2004 models with 9012 bulbs ( non-HID ) is the glare shield part of the bulb or the headlight assembly ? When I get my refund I want to know if I just buy the 9006 bulb and customize the threads a little bit, will I still have functioning high beams ? Or is the shield part of the bulb and when I buy the HID's I wont have high beams ?

The glare shield is part of the actual headlight, not the bulb. If you want to have HIDs, I would recommend buying them off of ebay. Your looking at about 500 bucks but it is worth it considering 95 percent of conversion kits do not get sealed correctly and therefore fog appears inside the lens. Trust me we get threads every single week trying to clear headlight fog.

Your looking at around 500 dollars. The HID lamps can be simply swapped out with the non-hid lamps, no modification needed.

Hope this helps.

Buy off a vendor on the .org instead of eBay. You're more likely to get a higher quality product, and have better service.

I want to make certain we are both talking about headlights not kits. If so, then yea I guess other vendors may have better service. Look at both though.

yeah if it wasnt said then I am looking for just a plug and play, but I want to make sure my car will pass MA inspection having high beams. Its just that some of the pictures Ive seen actually have the shield somehow on the bulb and I dont want to be taken for a ride by spending 400 on bulbs with shields, when I can easily spend 160 for PNP.

No, just HID kits. The halogen projectors work pretty well with HID capsules. No real need to change them over. Yes you will get better performance with an OEM HID headlight assembly. However the cost and availability of the headlamps usually makes it prohibitive.
