Struts Covered under warranty?

I just have a quick question. I have a 2006 Maxima SE with 16k miles on it. My front-end right strut is making funny sounds and is leaving some kind of oil on the shock. I took it to Mavis so they can look at it and they told me the strut needs to be replaced. I saw some kind of oily stuff all in my wheel well and shock. They said they can replace the strut, but they recommend that both be replaced as one will have more wear and tear than the other one.

I will be taking my car to Nissan tomorrow and hopefully they will fix it under warranty.

My questions are:

Are the struts covered under factory warranty? I don't think I should be having those kind of issues with a practically new car.

If one strut goes bad is it recommended that the entire pair gets replaced?

Any feedback would be great!

Thank You!

Well I just dropped off the car to the dealer. They said it should be covered by warranty and that I might not get my car back today because they are booked solid.

At 1st they did not want to take my car in because they only did appointment. I told them that I can't drive my car around with a blown strut and that I also took the day off work to bring my car in so now what? The guy told me he'll bring my car in as an "emergency call" so now I have to wait for them to call me today or tomorrow.

If I don't get my car back today I'm going to have to rent a car for work tomorrow.

Good to hear they took care of you, I work at a nissan dealership in CT and we would have taken care of it without an issue for sure. Nissan wont allow anything to be replaced in pairs under warranty though FYI.

Yeah they told me that. I guess they want to save money, but it honestly does not matter to me as long as my car rides fine having one new strut and one with 16k miles on it.

It should be fine right?

I just did mine last month on my new ride I have 30k. On my last blue done 2xs at dealer. 6gens are know for shtty struts. Nissan never upgraded them but yes they are under warranty take advantage. After that if it happens again go with GR2's I was told.

reason I say Nissan never upgraded because the rides still feel the same on our cars. Hey Nismo max did you get an upgrade part# on those struts
