CVT Clunk after stopping

My 08 Max will "clunk" after stopping at a red light, complete stop. When you hit the gas normally to go on a green light, it clunks. Will also do it if I decelerate or slow down, and then hit the gas again. Only have 1200 miles on it so far.

Has any one else experienced this clunk with the CVT? No other problems to report.

Sparky - In 23 1/2 years of owning nothing but Maximas, I have never hear such a clunk. This is something you certainly need to have your dealer address. You should be able to drive the car safely, but clunking at 1200 miles? Not right. Be cordial with the dealer's service department, but be gently firm that this clunk is absolutely not normal, and positively must be fixed. I mean, this is a MAXIMA, not a Yugo.

I agree. I have had no such problem with my CVT. No problems to report whatsoever.

No such clunks here either. 10,000 miles on my 07 SL CVT.

Took it to the dealer this morning. Of course on the way in it didn't do it. They couldn't get it to do it, and I road around with the service rep and it still didn't do it. The car only has 1750 miles on it now. Maybe it was just a breaking in thing. It if returns I will repost. Thanks for the replies!

I have 15k on mine, it has never clunked. If it comes back, hopefully you can duplicate it.

No clunk at 2,500 miles. Just that annoying click sound in the shifter when you stop.
