I hate my steering wheel

The steering wheel on my Max is too slippery--especially in cold weather. Even when it's warmed by its heating element. My hands are at least average in strength, and I have to grip it very tightly to keep it from slipping when turning it. My 97 Escort has a softer steering wheel that doesn't give me any problems. Anybody else have this problem?

DeusExMaxima swapped out his steering wheel for an aftermarket one. Why don't you?

I'll buy your old one if its black

I don't have a slip problem with the '06 wheel, but a disappointment has been that the horn button is in the center. My '01 max had buttons around the spokes of the wheel, much easier & safer to use because you don't have to remove your hand from the wheel to toot the horn.

Actually I too find my 07max's steering wheel lot stiffer than my other ones (95, 02, 04). is there anyway to soften it up?

my fourth gen wheel was totall worn out, I bought wrap from wheelskins.com. http://www.chicagomaximaclub.net/showthread.php?t=6543 I really like it. This pic doesn't do it justice, it looks like stock in normal light. It's high quality leather so it's soft. Might be easier than swithching wheels.

My 04 max steering wheel is really easy to grip and handle imo... and I have sweaty hands, and I'm 115 pounds wet.

I dont know what could be wrong with yours. Maybe someone used leather conditionner?

Actually even though I LOVE my steering wheel, I use driving gloves to protect the leather some. They look pretty cool too

That is some OLD school gear some here won't remember. My grandfather had one on his light blue 1969 Pontiac Catalina and he had a compass stuck on the front windshield--- pre-navigation days.

I have no cruise and I rarely miss it. Only when I go on long hauls up the state to bay area. Im considering swapping in the 09 Maxima steering wheel.

hey deus, I helped a frind relocate his cruise controls buttons, to the steering column, right behind the steering wheels, it looks clean and is not no hard to do, his car is a 240 though, so we have to get a wire diagram for our cars.
