Navigation

Does anyone who if its even possible to put the 07 maxima navigation into an 07 without navigation..Made the mistake everyone makes, "oh I don't need it"..It seems like a direct fit, besides the aux input, a hole would need to be drilled..Now I would love to just get a double din unit, but with the 07 and 08 models, the second you take the bose unit out, you loose the two display screens..which to me makes the car look real cheap..thanks

...just buy a top of the line after-market one for no more than $1,000 and it'll be better than OEM and MUCH cheaper...

yeah no doubt, thats what I want to do..But when you take out the OEM head unit, the other two display screens don't turn on at all..They are wired into the OEM unit..I mean those screens don't really serve a purpose, but still..Its nice to see the ac temp, mileage ect ect..stupid 07's

it is possible but you are going to have to do some wiring and will need a demodulator to convert your component video to RGBVH. Not worth it trust me took many hours researching this cost about 180 for demodulator and then whatever it costs for a screen. Mine ran 100 off ebay and then you will have to do wiring with either a connector for the screen, good luck finding that, or by soldering it. directly. If still interested in the demodulator thing im me I have links and can help you with the wiring part.

I'm wondering the same thing about the nav. When i first got the max i figured since i have a tomtom that i didn't need it. Then i see pictures of everything it actually does, which the dealer didn't mention, and slap myself.

Now I'm to the dilemma, rip out the bose and put my single dim alpine in, lose the gas mileage meter (which cant be right, its telling me i get 14 MPG!), DTE, steering wheel controls to put in my subs, connect the subs to the bose unit which may be a waste of my time and use the $600 alpine deck as a paperweight, or get the nav unit and then rip out the bose since i shouldn't need it.

Hi, I have a question about installing a Navigation System in it.

Is there a system besides the factory navi, that will keep all the accessible options available? Meaning the heating control and all the other stuff.

I have a 2006 Maxima SL.

you can install after market unit for nav and relocate the original screen like the rest of us are doing. this will keep all the original equipment and just add another unit. recommend taking a look at www.6thgenmaxima.org and checking out the pics of audio installs.

Dude, that was a fast response, thanks.

Thanks a lot for the link to that site. Forums are down at the moment, but I will definitely get back on it ASAP.
