Need to borrow 05+ Maxima for header test in SoCal

Hi,

Some may be aware that we're developing headers for the 04+ Maxima (that also fit the 05/06 Altima). We're ready to do a test fit in Southern California (Huntington Beach) and need to borrow an 05-08 Maxima with a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission (we'll also need a 5-speed automatic, but not yet). An 05/06 Altima V6 w/ manual tranny (5- or 6-speed) will work fine too.

We'll need the car for 2-3 days, depending on how close we are with our first prototype. Installation will be done at Jackson Racing. We will offer a "substantial" discount on a new header set in return for this enormous favor. Further details can be discussed w/ interested customers. Sorry, but 2004 Maximas do not qualify - this set will fit that car, but we need an 05 or later Max for testing related to CEL issues.

Feel free to reply here, or directly to me via PM. Our profuse thanks to all who step forward.

these headers will fit the 04s too, but there is an issue with check engine lights that comes up with the 05+ Maximas so we need to use one of them.

I can't speak for him for sure, but I bet Deus would be interested. I think he is 6sp manual.

Sorry, my friend, I would have called you first but for some reason I was thinking that your Maxima was an '04. You've been with us all along, howzabout you get the first production set?

I'll speak more confidently about it once the design project is finished, but yes it is absolutely our intent to create a header system that will not trigger a CEL. I do not see how it can be a commercially successful product without solving this issue.

I won't know for a few weeks what the final price will be, but it is my expectation that the entire system (headers and y-pipe) will be around $850-900 and the manifolds alone will be in the $525-575 range.

Of course the y-pipe, which also provides unequalled performance when used alone and takes only 30 minutes to install, is available now for $349.99.

when you do the install and testing, are you going to do something about the lack of fuel i.e. high a/f ratio? or do it to see how high itll go? also, would your design enable the use of the oem y pipe? i ask b/c i already have a CE pipe.

Logic would dictate that if his current y-pipe fits stock manifolds......... then his manifolds will fit the current y-pipe which is interchangable with the CE y-pipe, which is interchangable with the RacingLine y-pipe, which is interchangable with the stock y-pipe.

Did all that make sense?

I know but eventually they will have to fit the 4at (for me and like two other 4at guys!!) But the y-pipe for the 4at is the same as the 6sp (not 5at) So there may be more similarities...

My objective is to pin down why the Hotshot and other headers throw the CEL and eliminate that problem. If the A/F is out of whack (we'll be dynoing, so will know right away) that may have to be solved with fuel tuning rather than header design.

The stock y-pipe could be used, although I don't think anyone would want to. Any other y-pipe that accurately replaces the stock y-pipe can be used too, but they will not perform or sound like Cattman y-pipes with these manifolds.

Yes, your location is perfect, but we need to use a 6MT so we can do a dyno while we're at it.
