do you drive it "sportingly?" (read- beat the pi ss out of it). im thinking ticking is from valve guides and smoke is oil burn. is it black, blue, or white smoke?

black smoke means its running rich, blue smoke is oil, and white is coolant...for the most part.....if your burning ALOT of oil then you can get white smoke but your cat will probably be plugged before that and you will be getting a service engine soon light because your O2 sensors will be fouled by all the oil.

Not sure about the tick but couldnt o2 sensors starting to go cause the smoke? Well obviously others things too. Could all of you lights being light be attributed to a bad ground?

My 04 does the exact same thing as you describe. If its not using oil noticably on the dipstick, I would contribute the smoke only when you get on it to moisture in the exhaust system finding its way out especially if it is white like mine and does it only the fist few times I run it hard. Rotten egg smell the first few times as well. The exhaust is very restrictive with lots of places to collect moisture unless you are blowing it out all the time. It makes a clicking noise as well, but always has even though it is louder now than when new. Thought it may be the injectors, but do these have adjustable valves? If anyone knows please let me know! Thanks!

black smoke isnt condensation...have a technician do a compression test and leakdown test to see if it hold pressure and dosnt leak past rings or valve guides...you could pull spark plugs and if it has a black oily residue then the oil is being burnt
