code p1135, 2004 se, need help!

thz for reading!!

bought a 2004 se, black, 6 spd 3 weeks ago, love it, ran great

the ses light came on last thursday....car runned fine till saturday

it started to die on me just after starting....(turn the key, rpm ups to 2000...the gets back down to 600....then 0)
if i gave it a little gas while it got down, it was ok an it ran fine...

tuesday, car runned rough, lower power.... i got the car to the nissan dealer to check the codes

only one, p1135: P1135 = Intake Valve Timing Control, RH Bank 2

since then, I tried a few things, spent hours on the web and consulting the factory service manual for maxima, g35, 350z, .....but i still can't find the "cause" of the problem

the stealership charged me 417$ for: replacing the 6 spark plugs (217000km, original plugs), the upper intake gasket and 3.4 hours @ 67.90$/hour

they are not too sure about the cause either....but one guy there think its a sprocket connected to a camshaft that is bad.....600$ for the sprocket, 10 to 12 hours to replace it......(@ 67.90$/hour)

the RH stand for the side of the engine closest to the front of the car and the Bank 2 = camshaft closest to the front also????

anyone as an idea that could help me???

he's talking about the variable valve timing mechanism as far as i can under stand. they are a fairly major undertaking. it is an extremely precise job. just let them do what they think needs to be done and it if dosnt fix it then ream them a new one...ur old plugs are WAAAAAAYYYYY past due for a change so thank them for informing you of the issue. platinums are only supposed to go 100,000. your lucky you havent burned up a cat from improper fuel burn

I think you should read the FSM in a little more detail, it gives causes and fixes for each code. First thing, remove the actuator assembly and clean it (where it contacts), then reinstall.

Mine gave the same code not too long ago, I did that and it was fixed.

Did you buy this car from a dealer where you should have received some type of warranty?
If you brought it fron a private person have the dealer check to see if all services were done and if was brought in before the sale with the problem.

the piece you call the actuator assembly, would it be the solenoid on top of the timing chain that has 3 10mm bolts and a 2 wires connector???

ramberg: bought from a person....and didn't have any trouble before that....even with the dead-worn spark plugs it ran very good....

and all the tsb were done on it

something else i don't understand....

P1135 = Intake Valve Timing Control, RH Bank 2

reading (again) the fsm.....RH stands for right hand...the firewall side of the engine....

but again in the fsm, bank 2 is the radiator side of the engine....wtf?!?!?

i've read somewhere that p1135 could be resolved by changing the timing sensors... (NOT the camshaft sensors)

anyone got to change those parts??

tested the intake valve control solenoid (bank 2)

the fsm says 7@7.5 ohm

the reading was 20-22 (kept changing)

after a cleanup and a lot of trashing it against an anvil (in the direction of the shaft, to losen it if stuck) i'm down to 12-15 ohms, which is still double what the fsm mentions....

$220 for the part....not in stock....will try to get one ....

in that time, if anyone has something for me to try, i'm open to suggestions
