just more airflow with less restriction. Takes away low end torque, but you gain more high end at about 3500-4000 RPMs ... eliminates the butterfly
There are a few threads on it ... try the search button ..

$90 by KRRZ350...but I would suggest trying it yourself or getting a local shop or something to do it for you...
for what though? lol...you said you did the IMS yourself, so the IM is even less work...pay for half of my ticket though and do I get my own room? lawlz

Low-end isn't really compromised with the block-off plate, just gains in the mid-top end. The SSIM is a different story...

"Hey Yogashaki, the toyota has VVTI, honda has VTEC why dont we slap VIAS on there since we already have CVVTC, EBD and variable muffler, we'll be one up on the game."
"Hi FAIVE Yoshimori, maybe Takanokasan will give us raise"

I believe nmexmax had the plate still physically inside of the manifold or did you take it out? Because even with it "open" it's still a hindrance to flow. Here's a dyno of a 3.5 Altima with the plate in and out. ONLY difference performance wise is the plate.
That's some good gains.

As you can see there is a big hit to the torque/horsepower but then the gains are pretty damn good.

It basically confirms what we already knew. Removing the VIAS assembly will definitely hurt low end power and since you are removing an obstruction, top end power should be gained.
I believe NmexMAX still had the VIAS assembly in there. But it does help show what the optimal release point should be if you want to keep the VIAS.
And thanks 2002AltimateV6 for posting that chart. I've never seen that one before.
Fastmax05, yes, it does gain a lot on top end. But you are going to sacrifice low end performance. It really depends where you spend most of your time racing at. For me, all I care about is the 1/4 mile, so anything below 4K rpm is useless for me since I launch at 3000 and spend the time between 3-4K rpm on the fine line of traction. I spend 90% of my time above 4K rpm, which is where I want to see my power gains.
But for all those that care about partial throttle city driving, the loss of low end power may not be what you are looking for.
I also have not personally done any dyno testing of just the VIAS Removal. But it's still a good possibility I can do this in the coming few months since I have a 2002 Maxima 6spd scheduled for more new product testing. I can probably do some dyno runs while he's here.

Aaron, that's a good point you made about partial throttle driving and that's why I switched back to my stock airbox from fujita to regain low end power. I am curious though as to how the VIAS plate would work with a stock airbox and not a CAI. Will there be much low end loss??

But, I honestly think you would love the NWP Engineering Thermal Intake Spacers we offer. They offer a noticeable gain below 5K rpm without losing any top end power on the VQ35DE.

Aaron, I'm in the 6sp manual and I have not noticed any low end loss with just the VIAS removal.
In regular driving I try to launch the car in the 1200-2000 rpm range depending on hill grade and the TQ is there just like it was before but the power comes on much smoother from 3500 and up.
