Question about air intake

I have a question about air intakes, im planning to get one real soon, like next weekend, and im just asking for suggestions from anyone. What brand etc. I also have another question, i know some of intakes have built in holes for the sensors, but does it work. Does anyone's sensors go crazy when the intake's installed?

Thanks for the future help.

Is there a specific one i should be looking at, or do they just manufacture one for the maxima?

ive had my short ram berk intake on my maxima and my 02 max for over a year now..happy as hell with it. Sounds great..and all. never had any sensor probs whatsoever. You should look for one with a dry filter though..not for example some K&N systems that have oiled filters. The oil sometimes makes our sensors not work properly.

There is one for the maxima and it comes with Nissan's warranty. Love it. Short ram will be louder.

I absolutly love my Berk Short ram intake, had it on for almost a year now. Great sound to it and very simple to install. Go with the "Apexi dry filter" option- great setup! You can find it at: berktechnology.com.

I prefer INJEN cold air intakes. That's the one i'm installing in my car next month. Like Hilbe said some max.org memeber prefer FUJITA but INJEN is just as good also. Here's a link to the stillen site and they have it in black, but i prefer the polised one: http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?i...N&model=MAXIMA

Go with Fujita. The thing is a monster.

They are also offered in wrinkled black finish to match your engine compartment nicely.

I have a short ram intake from Stillen and I built a heat shield to make it a cold air intake as well:

NOtice the factory air scoop is aimed right at the air filter. I opened the air scoop where the factory blocked it off so it increases airflow.

I have 3 questions about he CAI while it is being discussed.
1. Is it true that changing to a CAI results in loss of power at the low end?
2.Does the MAF sensor need to be changed while making the swap?
3.I have been hearing about the CEL coming on after the swap, is that for real?

i have a Stillen short ram on my 01 max and love it.
i got it a couple weeks ago and honestly some things i learned are:
-make sure ur MAF will be fine with whatever intake you get
-and really think when you choose between cold air or short ram. I live in the northeast, there is rain and snow so i went with a short ram to avoid sucking up water. I feel it depends on where you live somewhat

1. Yes
2. No - if you mean replace. Yes if you mean removed and reinstalled into the new intake. Not hard at all to do.
3. No for about 95% of people and even then it is usually a non-issue. I've never seen any 6th have to remove CAI because of CEL issues.

I've had Nismo and Fujita. Each has it's own upside. Both very good.

1. Yes, but when you open up it'll rip

2. swapped from old housing to the cai (tool included with Fujita, i don't know about others)

3. Disconnect the battery during the entire install process, that's all.

love my Nismo. I would go with the Fujita, but it does not have the bypass valve to help prevent hydro lock and it gets WET here....

That valve can be purchased separately and installed up by the throttle body with the Fujita. I would consider doing it if I lived near a flood plain...
