It's still very rough. I plan to shape the tray and add more fiberglass. I am particularly paying attention to the front area which will sit beneath my rear grill. I will blend that into the twin diffuser fins so it has to be straight and smooth. For that I got sone finer fiberglass so it shapes better. Then Im going to use the coarser fibrerglass to top it off. Then lots and lots of sanding. I just wanted to give everyone a step by step of my progress. Right now I drove up to the San Fran bay area to visit relatives so there wont be progress for a few days. Any 6th Gen people up here?

It looked like a 6th gen white maxima with rims. He was in the turning lane and I passed by and got a peek.

It was a little different than yours. It was wider and had like a line going inside the mesh.
Maybe I was seeing things. Dont see many modded max's by me thats why it caught my eye.

I think it was an Acura TL Type S or maybe one of the Audis that has a rear mesh. I seriously doubt it was a maxima.

Update - Im going to try to get this done this weekend. I made the fins and I am forming the lip that will go under the rear mesh grill. I am going to finish forming the lip, and do the final shaping of the fins. The undertray got warped for some reason so Im going to try to straighten it out and then attach the fins and smooth it all together.

Updated pic:

There is still some shaping to do before final smoothing. Also, I havent made the cut out yet for the LED light in the middle of the fins.

Great, now I have to make TWO more fins . . . .

Any other opinions on it? Should I make the side fins smaller? thicker? Will it still look like the GTR Proto or is this now more just an ordinary diffuser?

well the GTR has the exhaust wrap arounds which you're missing. you're quite far from an ordinary diffuser since they don't have 2 close ones with an led. to me it looks more balanced in the last one.

Well, other than the wrap around exhaust, I hope it still resembles the GTR Proto. Now that I think about it, the GTR Proto does have outside fins, but they are from where the bottom part curves downward.

The front part of the lip is 27 1/4" which is the exact length of the middle area under the bumper. I have it contoured around a bit underneath to follow the contours of the rear bumper next to the mufflers.

that's a tough one. maybe it would help to have a view from higher up from where you would normally see it. you rarely look at a car at that level unless your on the ground really checking it out.

Make the outside fins fat enough and slanted to line up with the bumper on the outside of the mesh.

Ok, it looks like I'm getting bunches of differing opinions. My inclination is to go with short outside fins that are same thickness as twin middle diffuser fins. It seems to be more in line with the GTR Proto's curving valance that bends downward. Ill try to get a better pic of the rear.

I made the outside fins now. They are a bit shorter than the middle fins. Ill post pics tonight when I bond them to the tray. I may even be able to get preliminary pics if I drill holes to bolt it to the car - unifinished of course

Updated pic. You can see the addition of the slightly smaller end fins.
