Well i've only had my 07 for a few months and my half wife got rear ended last night by someone who took off. She got the persons plate # but i dont think there is enough damage to file a report.

Basically there are just a few scrapes on the bumper, and it looks like someone took 2 pennies and hammered them into the back end. Only paint chiping from one of these small dents. Is 2 small imperfections enough to get the bumper replaced? Can the scratches just be chemical, or buffed, out? I have back up sensors in the bumper, so if it did need to be replaced, do i need a special bumper or do they use the existing sensors?

I'm an accident noob, never even been rear ended before

well they sell bumpers with and without sensors already on them... it is definitely easier to buy a bumper with them on it then move the current bumpers onto a new bumper... and its hard to tell whether or not you need a new bumper without giving us some pics... so post some pics!

I say file the police report, this doesn't mean you have to inform your insurance company. Atleast you can see if wifey got the correct plate and if the vehicle matches up with the plate, then they would be responsible for all damages(Cost). If she got the plate wrong, we wouldn't even need to have this conversation. It's up to you to take it from there, whether that's informing your insurance or what you choose to do.

Definitely file a report, and see if they can find who it is.

Hope your half-wife's neck... is... ok...

I must be getting old but what is a half wife? If there is no dent you would just have to repaint the rear bumper. Its about 350.00. I would file a police report. Leaving the scene of a accident. He didn't even stop to see if anyone was hurt. Burn him or her.

Yea man, better be safer than sorry, file the report. My rear bumper used to get nicked all the time until i got this strip that goes all the way around the rear bumper and the color blends with my car. I don't like it on there but so far it has saved me hundreds of dollar from dumba$$es that can't parallel park.
