EGR System

My check engine light just came on and autozone said its the EGR system, could be something as simple as cleaning the valve. Anyone do this before and have any advice? Id give it a shot if it wasnt a big deal before going to the dealer, I have 87,000 miles.

If I recall the EGR is accessible for the most part with just the engine cover off. Maybe take a look around the drivers side of the engine for any leaks...

usually when we run into EGR issues at my shop we can clean the carbon deposits out, but its only a temporary fix. probably need a new one

Yesterday the light went off and the engine runs normal again, I bet the valve was just stuck and came free. I guess I wont worry about it until it happens again.
