Gas Gauge

I have a 2005 Maxima and the battery died. I replaced the battery and everything is fine now except the gas gauge. The needle is on the wrong side of the stop. When I start the can the gas guage moves up and is stopped by the post the usually stops the needle from going below E. When the battery died the lights and guages went nuts and the think the gas guage went around over the top.

Any ideas?

if it a fuse then the needle wont move, which it does. not harping on, you just saying. you may have to take off the gauge cluster and manually set it back in the right spot

It moves. The problem is it can not go past the post that should stop it from going to low. I think if it was manually reset it would be O.K. How do I get at the needle to reset it? Is there an easy way to remove the clear plastic cover?

Thanks guys.

I went to the dealer this morning and they told me I needed a new cluster at $800.00 Not covered by the ASP warranty.

I went back to work and saw the link. After comming home it took about 10 minutes to fix the problem and everything is working great again.

Nissan can suck rocks for this one. I am not impressed by this type of service.

Bottom line you guys saved me some big bucks. Thanks again.

Man my battery died and this same thing happened to me after the dealer changed it. Good thing i noticed it and the deal manual fixed it by opening up the cover for the gauge.
