That cf hood looks awesome man! I bet those pics don't even do it any justice.
I'm with fastmax on the vents thought... i've said it since i first saw this hood, when it rains heavily water will get into the engine compartment. Other than that it's definitely an excellent hood. Great job max2damax.
Looks nice... I still would be in though for a non vented hood ...
max2damax? hahah
Anyway J... good work and keep up posted on roofoverlay

guys, talking about rain, I've washed my car on the drive through car washes (the ones that use pressurized water only ) and haven't had any problems at all. if it rains when you are driving is even better cause water will be rolling back and wont get in the engine.

Very, very nice Jsmith!
I am ready to buy this hood with two conditions: 1) I wanna wait and see if any of you guys that have already purchased it will indeed not have any problems with the water coming into the engine, (I am sorry but I am just having a tough time believing that it won't be an issue - especially being in South Florida where at this time of the year it rains VERY HARD every afternoon), and 2) as some have said, I think, and of course this is MHO, that the hood w/o the vents may look even better.

Also I don't think they'll be non vented version coming anytime soon, so far sales have not been great, , and also wheigh savings compare to the stotck hood is not there in fact the CF one feels about 2 to 3 pounds heavier(don't bash we knew that was a possiblitie ), thats what we get for beeing pretty much the only car out there with an aluminum hood, so the only thing this hood has over the stock is heat venting and looks , so if you want to be unique (and look kool while you are doing it, very important! ) and give you engine some heat relief this hood is for you

Well - I guess I won't be having have a CF hood w/o vents then
Max2damax - if I buy this hood and water gets into my engine and blows it, does the warranty from the hood covers the car?

if the clear coat on the hood fogs up in the proccess, we will replace the hood no questions asked for up to a year

People are worried because it really increases the chance of hydrolocking. I know the vents are placed a little farther away from where the intake would be, but it would be costly if God forbid water got into the block. Maybe you can put like a roof or something on top of the intake just to play safe.
The CF hood fitment is reallllllly nice! I see no gaps whatsoever. But it kinda defeat the purpose (to me at least) of having a CF hood if it's not lighter than original.
Just a thought...

they only time hidrolocking could occur is if the whole filter was submerged in water, besides that rain getting in from the top would not be any different from rain getting in through the front on the stock intake system.

Try when you have the engine running and the intake sucking in air.

All these questions about water getting into the block, some people here need to turn the speed channel on and watch trucks drive through river beds with snorkels, when it rains the engine compartment gets soaked, vents don't add to anything getting wetter.
Either way, nice hood does the car feel faster with it
