exhaust

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy an exhaust system but I don't want it to be loud at all. I want it to sound like a 350z/g35. Not too loud but a nice mellow tone. What do you guys recommend? Any cat-backs or certain mufflers?

nismo cat-back for altima 02-06... haqve it extended 2 inches by a muffler shop and it'll be for a Maxi 04-07. Check out my cardomain.com page... you'll see the exhaust install and pics of it. it runs around $600-ish shipped... Love the sound.

i would recomend magnaflow 14805 or 14807s, the quad style looks the best and they have a nice mellow tone, and i would recommend removing the resonator, check out my cardomain and i have sound clips as well, any questions just ask

I prefer the Nismo, the Greddy's mufflers are less appealing looking in my opinion.

I prefer never to have another exhaust thread again. No offense but has this been discussed 90 times? Everyone likes different exhausts and they all sound different.

I think I'm gonna end up going with the greddy sp2's. I actually like the way they look with the chrome canister showing from underneath like the worldsports. From all the ones i've heard though, it seems kinda loud

I can see it now, once people begin getting Cattmans headers, we are going to have a lot of unhappy campers due to them freaking out on how loud it gets.

That's why you hang on to your stock system just in case.

The GReddy SP2 is one of the quieter systems. It has a nice tone to it as well.

I have an Apexi WS exhaust, probably the quitest aftermarket exhaust out there, and my exhaust even gets loud due to my headers

I don't mind though

OK I can tell people are already getting all worked up. Bro... just go to youtube or google videos... listen all the exhausts systems and decide. I chose the Nismo becuz it's not as loud as the other systems. It's loud enough in my opinion, but again that's your money so do what YOU choose to do.

Go see the thread I posted below. I posted it when I was looking for an exhaust system for my car... you'll have the answers you need.

Discussing this issue will go on for years... we're all gonna have different opinions, different views, and different choices... which will make it even more confusing for you to choose. Listen to them... pick one... go with it. End of story.

everyone has their own opinion but does a new thread have to be started about things we've been talking about for years? some things just need to be edited .... its like asking which one is better cold air intake or short ram.... we have countless reviews on this matter . hitting the search button will help. going to youtube helps and its all common knowledge you dont have to be a mechanical guru to know how to pick what you like, comparrisons between each heck i'm pretty sure there's some one in your town that has a hooked up max that could tell you. but i'm from ny there's at least 30 6th gen dudes we all chill together at least once a month and state our findings with each other

Changing the headers is going to make it a bit louder then just the exhaust.

I really beg to differ, I have had a 350z with Tanbe exhaust and my Maxima with the Nismo sounds very very similar. If you closed your eyes and heard both cars drive bye you would be hard pressed to tell which one it is.. Thats the reason I got the Nismo over all the the other systems out there. Also it is by far the quietest exhaust there is IMO. I can not even hear it at idle, very low note,( And this is outside the car standing at the back of it) If you listen to my video you can't even hear it till my wife steps on the gas. Driving is the same you know you have but bit over bearing loud, the only time you really hear it is at WOT which is where and when you should hear it. I know everyone that has bought this is just gitty with the way it sounds and very happy tone and rumble wise. The VQ sound is alive with the Nismo.. FTW!!!

If you want the VQ 350z and G35 sound get the Nismo, Check out the youtube vids and here is mine, Trust me the videos do it no justice. There are others on here that will tell you the same..
