Saggy head liner

OK, I did the search a while ago took the TSB to the stealership, they've screwed around with it 4 different times and including replacing the headliner once. Last time I was in they doubled th Velcro sh** and it worked for about a month and now it's saggy again. This is the area directly behind the sunroof first time it ripped free I about dumped the car in the ditch since it sounded like the roof was coming down on my head. This is an 08 SE fwiw, Service Mgr has never seen one do this before, not sure I believe that but we'll see. The sales mgr is a friend of the family, I've known him since he was a wee lad, so that helps maybe. I use this car for work so it gets a lot of miles, I average 35,000+ a year. The car is a blast to drive and this isn't a mechanical problem just a thorn in my side kinda thing. Thoughts? suggestions? Esp from those in the business. Thanks all. Enjoy the day. Frank

do you drive around with the sun roof open a lot? i only ask because i would think that over time the wind coming in the sun roof would pull on the head liner a bit. im not sure but i think they are glued on from the factory so maybe humidity is softening the glue and causing the sag possibly enhanced by an open sunroof letting the wind grab it?

Vented

I usually have the roof vented if I'm on the highway and temps are decent. In town I use the full roof sometimes but still mostly in the vent position. I thought about the heat/humidity thing as well but I would think that others would have had a problem as well esp in the Southern states. Thanks though, Frank

IIRC, others have complained of this issue as well. As long as it is under warranty, I would take it back until you warranty runs out.

If I Recall Correctly or something like that. Noobie question perhaps but I did search, heck I'm the one took the TSB to the dealership. My question was more along the lines of OK Now what? So today I called Nissan and filed a complaint yeah yeah I know probably pissin in the wind but at least I got the satisfaction. We'll see what happens, fwiw I've got a 6 year old Taurus with 150,000 miles on it and the headliner never sagged. That will be part of the conversation as well. Enjoy the day oh Senior member . dude he meant his "IIRC" was a newbie question. not the thread question. see the arrow pointing to himself?

it would suck to have it sag. but i would have an excuse to finally install black suede. seems like these cosmetic issues are never really "fixed" by Nissan.

Ahh then my apologies for a noobie response. I'd never seen the arrow used that way in a forum before. Trust me I thought real hard about grabbing a tube of PL 400 from the shop and making that sucker stick but decided that perhaps there might be a better solution . I'll see what Nissan has to say and let you know. Frank

3M makes the factory adhesive to fix that issue brother. You can buy it at any auto apolstry or some auto paint shop. You can use this opportunity to put some micro fiber up there and maybe an impression of an emblem or maybe something custom. Just take off the old, spray the roof liner and let set for 30 min or so. Spray the new cover and let set for 10 to 15 min. Re-spray the head liner and then apply the new cover. use your hands to kneed the new liner to the roof cover. Let set for an hour or so. take a to areas needing special attention (like dips and rises in the fabric). Once it is all set just re mount the roof liner and your are set for the life of the vehicle.

Oh crap forgot to mention, it comes in a yellow, red, or green can. Get the one that is for the fabric you are using. DO NOT USE ANYTHING BUT 3M. It is many long stories but please trust me on this.
