shouldnt be a problem, i put a spoiler on and accord i owned (dont worry guys it was the OEM spoiler) and it came with these nifty screw things that have a point on one side. you get everything lined up the way you like then press down conveniently showing you were to drill. I never had any rust problems but i guess you could tape everything off and spray some primer or something where you drill

i would suggest body shop if you are terrified by the idea of drilling into your car. It is pretty easy if you are the least bit handy though

bambino's idea about the playdough worked great for me... messed up 1 or 2 holes but the spoiler covers the whole thing anyways so it's not a big deal at all... the wiring through that alittle rubber thing was a B*tch! but check out bambinos post it helped me out

If you want it done right I say do it yourself, you never know whats under that spoiler once its put on, there are writeups if you search the site on how to install the spoiler, its not hard, somewhat of a pain to get the wire through the rubber pipe. but other then that over all easy job. I think you should read up on it and see if you can do it.

I had a bodyshop do mine, the dude screwed up!!! He did not set it properly. It is very hard to notice unless you are very ****. He wanted extra $50 to connect the brake light which I declined because I thought it was easy to do. I connected the brake light myself, it was a pain in the rear to run the wire through the rubber boot, it was time consuming and dififcult. I should paid the extra $50.00

Well actually none of the Maxima's come from their respective factories with a spoiler. All spoilers are added at the dealerships and I know this because I lost a screw out of the third light assembly in mine and I asked them if I could get the screw replaced and they told me that when they installed the spoiler it came with all of the hardware and they had no way of just ordering more. So we found a head unit screw form a radio that was the same size and it worked.

Just like all of the Nismo stuff is made for Nissan but not actually by Nissan.

Wow that comment before my. I didnt think that was true when the dealership told me that. Because you see those spoilers all the time but I guess that makes sense. Thanks for the info man. My got painted today and I need the dealership to install the thing. How much did they run to install yours, anyone?

So your saying then all them emblems (MAXIMA - 3.5 SE - NISSAN logo) are put on at the dealership as well because the Nissan logo would get in the way if they were to install the 04-06 spoiler.

According to this EBAY ad drilling isn't required to hold the spoiler on the trunk. Anyone not drill there spoiler on, and its staying on fine? This will save me money on labor (I have no drill), and not worry about rusting. What is used to stick the Nissan emblem too the spoiler, & where do you buy it?

Another website having some spoilers require drilling, and some spoilers only use 3M adhesive.
Nissan 07-08 spoiler requires drilling
04-06 spoiler requires only 3M adhesive

Seen many websites that use only 3M adhesive depending on the spoiler, so it obviously must work. Stuff must be pretty damn strong! Permanent once its on I assume.

You probably have to use two sided tape, and although it is strong enough to hold the Nissan emblems on it don't think it will be strong enough to hold the spoiler on. I can just see you driving down the highway 65mph and then you spoiler will just fly right off.

The you'll be kicking yourself in the for not doing it right the first time.

I ordered my 07 OEM spoiler off ebay painted for 100 bucks. Installed it myself... I recommend also using 3M Perm Adhesive tape also along with the screws that come with so you don't get any rattling . I then connected the brake light to my existing one put unplugging it from the wiring harnest and directly putting the wires into the outlet.

Oh yeah, not to mention you need a multibit drill. A #4 bit will cost you around 28 bucks at home depot. DONT EVEN BOTHER TRYING TO DRILL IT WITH OUT ONE.... Believe me. I tried and finally forked over the money and bought it... and of course I returned it a week later.

Thats just how the cars in your region are ordered, many times stuff is port installed, since SE come with spoilers, I don't see how Nissan could force dealers to install on on each SE Maxima

A website showed the backing of the 04-06 lip spoiler. I was surprised to see that the 3M tape was just 1 little strip the whole way across the spoiler (I thought the entire back was 3M tape in the shape of the logo, & they say no drill is optional, but with that little tape surprising to me), & there was none down by the logo area. If I were to buy some 3M tape (need some for the Nissan logo anyways), & apply more on the backside of the bumper to where its almost all completely covered - would that be good enough to where drilling isn't necessary you think? (If its cheap I might get 3M adhesive promoter as well.)

Is this what I need from auto parts store-
3M acrylic foam adhesive (dark grey tape with red backing with 3M logo on it, this can be used to attach Nissan logo to spoiler as well correct?
