First off, the "sidewall" is only .3 inches shorter. I have had both Eibach's and progress and the front drop seems to be the same between the two after they settle--about 2 inches.

The H&R's are listed as a 1.5 inch drop, and they seem to barely settle to that. Furthermore, on the H&R's the drop in the rear is more than the Eibachs and Progress. Now, the .3 inches shorter is obviously around the entire circumfrence of the tire, but even times two isn't just under a inch.

Again, no disrespect, just math. Try using this calculator. It's a nice one... http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp----------->or this one....http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

More like .7" in diameter.

All I was saying is I wouldnt start replacing suspension parts to get rid of the wheel gap caused by the wrong sized tires... Just my .02

Great idea Justin. You should get another 15K or so, errr well maybe with the way you drive 8K LOL. You may even consider the Chern route and go to 255/45/18's to really kill the wheel gap. As far as performance goes you have the best size right now.

If Chern takes a vacation in Cali, I'm taking a vacation at the same time to check out one badazz Max.

With my incoming wheel spacers you are making me very sad. I was hoping the spacers would give mine the look of less wheel gap. I have a feeling I'm going to have to shave my inner rear fender to prevent rubbing. I bought 25mm (1 inch) spacers all the way around. I'll post pics before and after and we will all know the truth.

I hate to say it Justin but we need a side shot. The suspense is killing me (or send me one for private viewing ).

KC, You said---->"Theres just under an inch difference in sidewall between a 40 and a 45. (40 being shorter)"

KC, Then you said ---->"More like .7" in diameter."

Obviously, diameter is drawing a strait line down the center of a circle from top to bottom. Radius is half that.

Sidewall is the side of the tire only. 40% of 255mm equals 4.01 inches.

45% of 245mm equals 4.33 inches. 4.33 inches minus 4.01 inches equals .32 inches. Twice that equals .64 inches. There you have it, the diameter is ,.64 inches (rounds off to .6 inches) different.

Just my .06 inches.

Bottom line is you sold him wheels and tires that were better suited for your "set-up" So far I havent seen Justin take out his springs and "cut off a coil or two" like you did. Dont tell him to buy another brand of spring to decrease the wheel gap. It wont help. Of course if the tires are new, use them, then buy the correct size.

Reminds me of one of my old winter setups... LOL 40 series.

I couldnt pass the deal.Bridgestone Blizzak runflats with maybe 500 miles on them. $200 m/b. Threw them on, threw up and sold them.

Chill out man. Your EGO is getting the best of ya. It's all good. By the way, I'm on Eibach springs, and I sold my cut Progress springs long ago. You really have to get over me cutting my sold springs man. Fastmax is happy--->bottom line. I'm happy for him. I'm happy. Now it's your turn. I explained to fastmax before I sold him exactly what the whole deal was regarding additional wheel gap. Afterall, he is on HR's and was sporting 245/40/20's when normally you run 35 series with 20's. Just ask him. Now you want to rain on the parades because I corrected you. You should be thanking me KC.

Now go and have a nice day in that nice ride of yours.

Sorry fastmax to be jacking your thread but i have to show this to KC.

Here is a picture of my car with 245/40/19's and your 255'40/18's. As you can see the difference in wheel gap is not big. The 245/40/19's have the same diameter as 245/45/18's! So, lower it Bro. You'll experience even better handling I bet.

Hey Bud,

Should be interesting once you get the new springs. I really want to drive down and help you install them (and try out the new menu). Don't forget, you have spring spacers in your rears. You're probably going to want to chuck them when you get your new springs, or sell them with the H&R springs to the person who buys them from you.

With the new springs, no spring spacers in the rears, and the +30mm offset associated with G35's---->nice and flush, the rear tires are going to be very close to the wheelwells. You're probably going to be saved from rear tires rubbing with your loved ones in the car by the "40" profile of the tire.

Going from the H&R's to Progress springs without rear spring spacers , she is going to drop more than a inch in the rears, and more than .5 inches in the front once she settles. Trust me when I tell you it's going to look WAY better with the new springs!

Now this is my own opinion...because of the (ironically) progressive nature of Eibachs, I believe they have better ride quality than the Progress springs but handle the same. The Eibach's compliment the GR2's on your car very well. But again, this is my own opinion.

Nice place fastmax, i'll check it out the next time i'm in LA.

Btw, I've seen coolmax's car with those wheels and tires and they looked great. It looks like the HR springs that fastmax has have something to do with the wheel gap.

I told ya Bro. The cutoff for performance, ride quality, and looks is in the 18-19" range.

Those wheels look awesome on your car. Classy, professional, and sporty.

Just know you're going to take a hit in ride quality going from H&R's to Progress. Again, give the Eibachs a thought or two (I have not mislead you so far).

Now enjoy--and for Christ sakes, stay out of trouble and be safe. Oh yeah, watch out for curbs.

PS: Every once in a while when I see those wheels on your car I .

That looks clean... so what was the total out the door cost he gave you? I am fully jealous. Let me know if you ever want to give them up for an upgrade!! I wouldn't mind having some G35 rims my self. I mean, especially if they look that good...
