Signs of transmission slippin

So driving home from work today going about 40-45, I felt a slight jolt, and watched the rpms drop from 2.5 down to 1-1.5. I continued to feel this throughout traffic as well. Should I be concerned

Yes...check your fluid level in your transmission. Top off if required and take to the Dealer.

well mine is going in on monday to have the tranny changed after complaining for 18 months and 17k but atleast they have no more excuses because i'm having terrible slippage and banging. Lately these trannies are falling left and right but good luck and like mentioned above take it in as soon as possible.

I see in your sig you have the Ingen CAI, was the CAI installed when they decided to change your tranny?

intake wont make you blow a tranny, unless its makes cool noises when your on the juice. so indirectly i guess it could but only by drivers choice.

just some further info- as most of you know I just became a maxima owner, I bought the car preowned exactly 30 days ago, so its under the warranty of the dealer, plus the extended warranty I purchased. Im making an appt to drop it off Tuesday morning to have them check it out.
will keep you guys updated.

...i feel you !!! I had a 2001 CL-S with minimal miles...started getting issues with tranny...now have a 2004 maxima se 5-speed auto ...tranny is out ...whats with these japanese trannies? anyways, im out of warranty on my maxima so i dont know what im going to do now...dealer wont cover it...trying to get nissan north america corp. to help me out...we'll see... i think ive narrowed it down with the help of of a downloaded service manual...the car is in Fail-safe mode 2 i believe, which according to the manual has to do with the shift solonoid valve c i belive...anyways am planning on getting the TCM flashed and reset to see if it will fix it or if its really the solonoid valve...anyways, if any one knows anything else i could do, it would be really apprecieated...... thanks in advance..

I sold my 2002 honda accord for this maxima...and I just bought it not even a week ago....It currently has approx. 31,000 miles on it...and I think power train warranty is till 60,000 miles...

Honda tranny's are known for bumpy shifts...but not nissans...

Anyways keep me updated
