hey guys... i got some question and hope you guys can help me.......when ever my car is in park or reverse and once you pu it on drive some times thers a delay on moving forward and sometimes it will just kick in like you press guy so hard i really dont know how to explain it..... like remember for auto if you put it on drive it should start moving forward even with out pressing the gas mines sometimes thers a delay like 2 to 3 seconds and after that you youll feel the car kick in with a kindnah loud sound.....

that's the tranny going bad. it's what happens when the fluid delays in moving the gear or when your shift solinoid starts to go. my suggestion is if under warrenty take it in, if not start saving for anew transmission and drive it till it dies. make sure you have towing and rental reimbursement coverage.

Switching to standard will be pricey...

im sure you can find a used tranny on car-parts.com for under 900 or so... labor is what is pricey...

how many miles do u have... and what year is your ride.... 4 spd? 5 spd?

It's a 04 and it has 92K miles on it.... If I will spend money on a new tranny might as well go for a tranny swap right (standard)?

Do you know if they person b4 you dad/mom/etc ever did any trany flush/drain ???

Does not sound good, but i would take it to a shop that you trust...

If you go into a place you dont know ... or never heard anything about, they PROB will just tell you its done etc...

Dont go into a place and say you think its bad, cause' they will just agree with you and take your $$$$... talk to family/friends and try to find a place ...

Good luck and Keep us posted

Went to the dealership this morning and let them take a look at it cuz its still under extended warranty and its not the tranny..... it was 2 of my motormouths...... the front and back was all gone and it was touching metal to metal that's what they said...... just got my car back and the noise and jerk of car was gone...... lucky it wasnt the tranny.... I was so happy cuz I didn't get any extended warranty on the drivetrain......

Feel sorry for you dude. I had my motor mounts that went out..All 3 were replaced(only 2 were bad) and it came out to $1050 at the dealership. Luckily, I had extended warrenty and got it covered under my 100k and had to pay no deductible. Just to let you know, start removing your hp mods cuz if it does get covered; when they call nissan to set up a claim they will ask your service advisor a LOT of questions as to what mods does it have, do you drive it hard, etc.. Just giving you a heads up. With luck, all will go well.

And go ahead and get the flush/drain&fill if you need it for your tranny. Don't let it pass you by.

Hey Jimmy, the dealership said that the mods wear the motor mounts out? What mods do you have that can do that?

yea i hope they don't. I have an injen intake, just converted to short ram, so hope they ignore it.. and yea they do sell the Nismo, but the inspectors more of the problem over the dealership.

All SE's came with the 5spd, early 04 SL's had the 4spd. I have an 04 SE purchased in Aug of 2003 and it came with a 5AT.

After my 02 GXE was totaled in an accident when I was hit by an 80 year old man at 1am...with a bum leg who fell asleep at the wheel while driving another 80 year old man home who himself was wheelchair bound. The driver had been drinking however was not charged...as there were no on-duty police officers available at the time....what a story...The car was an Acura EL which is only sold in Canada I believe....that's a dressed up Civic with leather...much smaller than my 02 Max...Anyway the insurance bought me a new car at the time. By Febraury I was driving a 2004 SL....what a mistake that car was...should had gone with the SE...anyway the car was in the shop every two weeks with something else wrong until July 04 when the Transmission died with only 15,000 KMS that's right KMS not miles! That's less than 10,000 miles! After arguing with Nissan and pleading with my dealer they took it back in November of that year...(we used to call it "The 4 o'clock Friday Afternoon Special" as we think the car was manufactured at that time! LOL! It was a bucket of loose bolts and I mean this quite litterally! It was falling apart. Luckily I was put in a second production run 05 SE. This car has done OK so far....the usual problems such as brake noises and shocks etc. The transmission in this one lasted almost 4 years or 100,000 KMS or 60,000 miles...which was recently replaced under warranty...and I have an extended warranty. Jimmy, why don't you approach a Nissan dealer and without mentionning said problem ask to purchase an extended warranty? Or start saving up for a rebuilt....Good luck!

I did get an extended warranty, and I thought it was the tranny but it wasn't. It was 2 of my motor mounts f/r.... and some seal axcle........ so far no problem....
