How many miles does your max have now
#841
05 Max SL bought new. 23,485 miles on it.
Repairs-replaced driver's side window motor, a/c fan replaced, on 2nd set of F & R brakes, new F & R rotors after originals were resurfaced years ago, 2 v-belts replaced, air filter changed, new battery.
Regular oil changes with new oil filters(last oil change was first with synthnic oil). New set of tires. Alignment. 2 sets of new windshield wipers.
Need rear lower control arms as soon as possible.
And need front control arms replaced in near future with an alignment and complete paint job with some dent repairs. Clear coat burned off roof & trunk. Side view mirrors faded. Roof chrome trim needs to be replaced(discolored, peeling, etc) or just going to buy chrome tape to fix.

Sure you have not done 240,000m miles.
I would sell and start again.
Hope you get all sorted out with going broke.

1 island mile equals about 15 to 20 stateside miles due to the very poorly maintained roads - potholes as big as craters, rough roadtops, pothole patching that is not done properly, not a smooth road anywhere. Tight curves, steep hills, switchbacks, speed bumps in many places that are not formed properly like in the states.
So, that's why one goes thru brakes and rotors. I'm glad my suspension is good and it is only the control arms which don't look like they are going to be that expensive. Many ppl complain about replacing their shocks & struts more than once a year.(not Nissan Max owners, just other vehicle owners)
Because of the heat & sun, your windshield wipers will dry out quicker and the v-belts, which really weren't in bad shape but I got them replaced while the mechanic was doing other work on the car.
As for the 1 A/C fan, my fault. I didn't check the ant-freeze & my radiator went completely dry and car overheated which in turn I did something to break the fan.
As for the clear coat, I didn't maintain the exterior by waxing and washing as much as I should have in this climate, which I 'm not used to because I moved here with the car from a Northeastern state. And I leave island for a couple months at a time leaving the car sitting in the sun, etc. I didn't use a cover.
Many 6th generation Max owners have the same problem with the roof rails. There are many threads on it.
My sister had a red Acura and her side view mirrors faded because of the climate in the Northeastern state, so she wasn't surprised to see them faded like hers.
Because of the rough road conditions one is going to go thru tires faster too.
As for the window motor, IDK about that one. All I can say opening the windows so many times in one day every day, it burned out.
The rest of my $ was used for regular maintenance-oil changes with oil filter changes, new air filter, etc.
I don't think I will go broke, I just have to maintain the car better. I plan on keeping this car for a long time. I hope everything just works out.

Thank God our Max's are V6s, cause you can hear the 4 cylinder cars
put-putting up the steep hills. LOL
You should see what we call "island cars" down here. They are being held together with duct tape and rope and other innovative ways. Some cars don't have working windows, A/C, lights, turn signals, & so many other problems.
We pay $4.79 or up for gas now and it is climbing higher & higher
I don't know how to post pics on this page or I would take pics of the bad roads and bad fix up road jobs. And some "island cars", (including some older gen. Nissans.)
How do I post photos?????
As for Google Earth, I have to get back to you on that one with a link, so you can check it out. I don't know how good it works down here
Let me check that out.

Thanks for post...sounds a very interesting place...modern cars, taped up cars etc all sharing those gravel roads.
You quoted petrol prices...is that US$ for a US gallon? We pay NZ$2.19 a LITRE so that works out to be about US$8+ a gallon.
Which part of the world is home..US..Canada or ????

Developed an issue with magically disappearing coolant. Hopefully its a hose or something and its hitting the engine and burning off vs being a head gasket. Not noticing any clouds of white smoke coming out the tailpipes.
Otherwise, This car is pulling as hard and shifting as perfect as the day I bought it. I've got the same timing chain rattle at startup others have mentioned. The dealer told me what may happen at some point is that the stretch maybe enough to throw off the timing and I'll get a engine code.
