Stock intake...

Does anyone know if removing the front portion of our intake near the hood has negative effects on performance? I did this and it sounds so much better at higher rpm. So, right now I just have the air box and that larger diameter opening near the battery.

You will be getting less "cold" air into the intake now. The colder the air and the more volume of air the better off you are. You'll basically be taking in warm air now from the engine bay so as far as performance is concerned, id say this is a no no.

Well, I have the piece in storage, so I'll put it back in maybe in the spring. It feels like it's not as constricted as stock though. Also, I noticed there is a seperate part of the intake that goes down below the filter. I'm assuming this is getting cold air in, correct?

I say put it back and get a K & N High Flow Filter for some slightly added sound and performance. Orrrr if your gonna go CAI then get the Fujita.
