My buddy has a g35 auto. Its slower then my car. Just another reason to stick with a maxima. Better gearing.

right...because you decide what a luxury car is not the manufactures. you should work for car and driver. any other little gems of brilliance you'd like to drop on us?

by that statement you just showed you have no idea what you are talking about. you just explained why they have an awd model vs a fwd maxima. for people who want luxury and the safest way to get from point A to B. the maxima can't offer this. oh and rwd isn't just for doing donuts in a parking lot.

It's not the engine's fault for you getting speeding tickets. you're just an idiot. you can get a speeding ticket in a 1.8 versa ****. seriously stop posting.
To me it seems like you have a stick up your *** considering how you take this **** so seriously ......
If you want to get on that level let me ask you this your so called "luxury" G35 did not even come with Projector lighting untill 2007 so go to sleep kid

wait im confused. Are we talking about the sedan or the coupe?

The g35 coupe 5at is SLOWER then the max, Ive road tested them, trust me

the sedan is about the same due to higher weight and different gearing, the G35 is a luxury car, the Maxima is an enthusiast car with luxury features.

As far as modding goes, the G35 coupe has more am support, but the maxima isnt far behind. The G35 sedan on the other hand probably has less AM support then the Maxima.

All in all its about what YOU like.

Performance
Max > G35 auto (6speed has an advantage, then again 6speed max would balance it out)

Looks
Personal Pref.

Max > G35

Value

Max > G35

what else needs to be said about this? both cars are peppy off the line and have decent power to get you around town, however; one has a higher price tag for features that are available in a cheaper and styler version (imo).

The max is more car for the money, dont get me wrong, I like the G35, but its not worth the money when compared to a max.

Have a nice day

Last year, in quebec, a g35x was 5000$ more, and I didnt want to pay that much. If I could go back, id get a g35x because of the AWD and winters here.

I was actually going to look at a G sedan when I bought my Maxima. someone was signing the papers on it when I got there. I test drove the Max and did not care for the front wheel drive, then they offered me $2750 trade for my Beat up 97 J30 with 150,000 miles that needed Brakes, timing belt, AC pump, and Had a CEL!!! I said where do I Sign! Also my car came modded from the dealership by the previous and 1st owner who provided me with a detailed and flawless maintaince record. I wish I had a 6 speed but oh well, no clutch is nice too!!!

I chose my 2007 SE over the G35x mainly because I tired of stuffing my friends in smaller back seats. Only major plus that the G35 had over my Max was its turning radius (Nissan could've given the Max a better turning radius).

For Real, Are You Kidding Me...?

OKAY. This will always be a matter of opinion, but we eat first with our eyes, or hadn't you noticed? One evening, In the summer of 2003 I was driving down the highway in my 1998 Nissan Maxima 5 speed manual GXE when I saw a 2004 Maxima for the first time. I followed that poor driver for about 50 miles, just eating up the sight of the car. I was literally drooling. I bought my 2004 Maxima 6 speed manual brand new in 2004. I was disappointed with the cost ($34,500.00) but TOTALLY EXCITED by what I was getting: The only option I didn't have was the burnt umber body color with the rear seat warmers and sunshade and the navigation computer / GPS. My car, from day #1, has been a f***ing head-turner. I drove my 2004 Maxima in a funeral procession for a deceased elderly uncle in 2005, and by the time we arrived at the cemetary I discovered that my car was the topic of everyone's conversation. It has that kind of appeal. Is the Maxima the best car in the world? Heck, no. But it is and always has been an impressive BEAST of a car. My friends asked, why didn't you buy a BMW? The answer is simple: I didn't want to be tooling on the highway, outraced and outclassed by a car of the same manufacturer because I couldn't afford the BEST the manufacturer had to offer. The Nissan Maxima is THE BEST FWD, 4 passenger, sleeper sedan that Nissan has to offer (we aren't talking about Infinity -- which for all intents and purposes is another company). It's the f***ing flagship. Modifications aside, when I'm next to another Maxima, I don't ever have to feel inferior -- because we're eating at the same table. There is NO Infinity that gets the same visceral response that a 6th generation Maxima gets. The 6th generation Maxima is simply ALL t*ts and *ss. And that's why we love the poo out of it. End of story.

Interesting perspective...It is a good looking car, but the infiniti seems to be on another level, with bmw there as well. Yes, you are getting the best Nissan has to offer, but it will never compare to a bmw or most infiniti's in terms of prestige and quality.

It is odd, however, that the maxima really doesn't have a competitor within the toyota or honda brand. The altima is built for that. It competes mostly with acura and lexus I would imagine...though it's really in a league of it's own. You might say that it's the perfect blend of practicality, sport, and luxury.

A side note that is totally off topic: Does anyone else notice that when there are a pair of HID's coming at you on the interstate in the other lane that it seems like 90% of the time it is a maxima? In terms of numbers, the maxima must have the highest percentage of cars on the road with HID's.

Im sorry, but whoever thinks a g35 looks better then a maxima has odd taste in vehicles. The curvy wavy feminine lines of he g35 all scream the same thing, that car was designed to appeal to WOMEN. Nothing aggressive about it, not to mention it looks like a Toyota Camry.

Oh one more thing, they 6th gens design is based off the 350z, similar to the way the 7th gen was designed to look similar to the 370z.

have you ever looked at the exterior styling of the cars?

headlights, taillights, hood, mirrors, are all the same with the exception that the Z is stretched out, vs the maxima being blocky.

take a look at some pics or look at them side by side. A buddy of mine has a 350, it sits next to mine at work all day, trust me, they def keep the design similar. Same thing with the 370z and the 7th gen max.

Bah, maxima doesnt come with AWD. Huge problem in quebec, canada, with crap winters. I cant even win against a sentra with 100 hp in the snow. You need AWD here. I hate winters. And winter tires just smoke and wont accelerate. Cant wait for summer eh eh

I'll contribute to this thread...

I just bought my Max, Stepping up from a Lexus ES300. I say stepping up because my Lexus was old and tired... and now totaled off.

Anyways. I choose my Maxima for various of reasons. Biggest one and since we are comparing the G to the Max was because I fell in love with the VQ35 drivetrain. My recently ex GF bought a G35 coupe auto before we broke up... I got to drive it quite a bit and I was ultimately amazed at the power and how refined it felt. I loved having power all the way through, and it just seemed like it had a smooth torque curve.

When my car got hit, I started looking at several cars. Acura TL, TSX, G35 Sedan, Altima Sedan (and coupe), Mazda 6 and the Max. I narrowed it down to having the power of the VQ, which meant the G, Altima or Max. The Altima was out because it didn't make sense to buy an Altima if I could have the Max for almost as much. So between the G and the Max...

Both cars as nice... and both are very fast. Biggest reason why I have a Max? Price. The G was easily 5k more (cnd$) then a Max with the same year, mileage etc... $5k is not worth the FWD to RWD in my opinion. I don't plan on racing or drifting anyways... Plus the Max has nearly the same power as the G35 (sedan) at 265hp/255lbs and 260hp/260lbs respectably.

Second of all, in terms of quality... I'll get flamed for this. I think the Max and G are both equal. Both have the same cheap titanium parts, both dashboards looked plasticy, both rattle just as much, both have horrible GPS, and both have the ugly orange LCD info systems. Argue with me all you want but compare an 04 Maxima to an 04 G35. You will know what I mean.

Third.I think I get just as much appreciatation from people around me for my Max just as the G35. When people look at the G35, you say "zooomygoood its a G35... soooo sexy". When people first look at my max they say " Nice car! what year is that? 2009? it looks soo executive!". Although the appreciation is different, I prefer the executive look over the boy racer look.

Fourth. Features. I love my heated steering wheel, power folding mirrors, front and rear heated seats in my Max. Does the G have any of these? NO. To me the only other thing that the G has to offer is sex appeal and RWD. I'll get laid in my Max either way... the classy girls will just think Im rich... when Im actually car poor because I'll be spending too much on my Max.

Thats my 2cents...Its the same story for the 2009 models too. Quality is the same.
Disclaimer: This post is strictly personal opinion and from personal experiences with both the Nissan Maxima and Infinity G35. I do not actually use my car to as a means to get laid and comments in Third point are not exact quotes

thats the reason why Im so against the G35. A buddy of mine is Infinit crazy, he has to out do everything I do, so he went and bought a G35c right after I got my maxima. Needless to say, he wishes he would have gotten a 350z instead of the g35. Kinda sad getting beat by a 4dsc in a "sport coupe".

When it comes down to it, the "luxury" in the G35 isnt any better then the Maxima, why spend the extra money? Just remember, in Nissan/Infiniti's case, its just a name. Now comparing say a Toyota Camry to a Lexus... well thats a little different, you can actually tell the difference in quality/luxury.

Its kind of funny how I hear some of you bash Infiniti G35's.........there is about 50% of org. members sitting on G35 OEM alloy wheels. You guys answered your question about comparing cars. I have a 02 max, and a 2007 G35S. My maxima has 130,000 miles runs like a new car. I bought it new, take super care of it. But I love my G, it handle's great....when you drop the hammer its over for a brand new 2009 maxima. A 2009 maxima can not beat a 07 G35 and current. That goes for a 6th gen 6spd too. If a 6spd 5.5 gen , can beat a 6spd 6th.......just imagine what a 2007 G35S 6Spd can do. 306HP 0-60 in 5.3 sec.........13.8 in the quarter... My point is there both good cars, Maxima or the G. G for the win!

+1. Seems like you are in the minority, though. I just don't see how some of these guys are claiming that the maxima out performs the g35.

uhh so the mirrors and hood are 'slightly' the same. headlights and taillights are vastly different. the whole 'body style' is different. the Z and 6th gen LOOK NOTHING alike. sorry. on top of that they have different chassis, suspensions, etc. and the list goes on from there...trying to compare the two is

they are jealous and don't want to admit the g35 is a better car for basically the same price as a 6th gen. only thing the max wins in is interior space. otherwise the G wins hands down in every category. but you'll never convince them of this. i'v given up trying. my next car will be a g37 hands down. but i'm going to buy a used truck(snow plowing and haulin) & nice boat 1st!

umm if you cant admit that the maximas exterior design (some of it) was based off the 350z then you need to just **** off. I made it idiot proof so you could see it. Im not saying by any means that the cars are all around similar, just certin parts of the exterior styling are similar. Not to mention the cars had the same rims.

The g35 is slower, Go to your local drag strip and race one in a 6th gen. Auto vs Auto the max is quicker. Ive tested this numerous times.

And as for your g37, gl with that, the new 370z is alot sexier then the g37, not to mention its slighty quicker.

Keep paying for over priced nissans

actually a g35 auto is faster then a 6th gen auto. true story.
Maxima Auto (SE 5AT) Typical Stock: high-14's (14.7-14.9)
I know a stock auto G is faster then that i'v seen em run.

as for your 370 vs g37 comment lol. i like having 4 doors. and if i wanted a sports car it wouldn't be a 370z lol.

g sedan is a sports sedan when you look at it.
manual, rwd, and proper weight distribution.
maxima does not even come close.
maxima should be more compared to an avalon

let the flamming begin..
