question on HID foglights

Hey Guys,

I have a couple questions for you. I am ordering a HID conversion kit for my fogs and was wondering if anyone had any experience with a place called www.xenonexpert.com Also, has anybody had any expereinces with the DDM HID kits they sell there or at least confirm for me that they ARE in fact digital ballasts? Lastly, and most important question, are there any problems with putting a 55w HID setup in my factory fog light locations? Too hot? Too much for stock wiring? any info is appreciated. thanks.

I've never ordered from Xenondepot but I know a lot of people that have. I've heard nothing but good things from there. Very supportive, great warranty and great product. Some guys have had the HID's last for several years.

I might make a purchase myself for my fogs this time since I plan on keeping my Max for a long time.

Hmm, take a look at Operatic's website, hes a maxima.orger. 3BSpec.com I ordered a kit from them, came within 2 days, nice quality, fair pricing and he helped me out with install questions over the phone. Have had them in my car in my fogs for about a year now with no problems. I think there might even be a GD on his hid's somewhere in that section.

There's quite a few pics around and threads on this same subject, search around, you'll find a bunch...

can anyone click the link and tell me for sure or not if that place is selling digital ballasts? they are the "slim" type, but it does not say for sure they are digital.

also, that is xenon expert, not xenon depot.

Just go to the group deal section of this site and buy no questions and tons of solid feedback from members just like you. I have bought stuff off the GD section and have been very satisfied...

sorry, another question. Are the fogs in a '04 Maxima ACTUALLY fog lights or are they driving lights? I went to slyvania's site to look up some bulb numbers for my high beams and slyvania has my car listed as having fog/driving lights. are they in fact a combination fog/driving, or strictly a fog light?

i also need to CONFIRM that going with a 55w HID in my fogs is OK to do?

They are fog lights. The headlights work as both the reg and hi beam by using a reflector that moves when you hit the high beams...

I believe stock fogs are 70-75w. therefore 55w is less. No problem, but I would still get a kit with a harness.

I have the the operatic 55w digital 6000K kit. See group deals. One bulb burned after 8-9 months and hes sending me another one.

I don't think this mod is a good idea..1st that's a lot of light to shine on on coming traffic. I hear that cops are now stopping people with HID Fogs and if you can't prove that your car came with them you get fined and asked to remove them...but that's up here in Canada...the story was out of Ontario where the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) are the king of the road....makes smokey look like Lolita. LOL! My advice is to go with the new PIAA Yellow ION Plasmas...the contrast between the Bluish lights of your HID mains is fantastic...they stick out more. I paid $25.00 for a set of two! And they were easy to install....replace the stocks right out of the box with no wiring or balasts....and the best part...they are as bright as the HIDS! Everyone here is getting Yellow fogs now!

What would be the best color to change the cornering lights too? White, Blue? What would make it more clear?

LOL its pretty much illegal to mod your car in the east. Thank god the west isn't the same.

Do you have pics of your headlights with fogs and output?

I consider changing my fogs to 3000k when my 6000k fogs burn. People think I am on high beams cause it's just next to the main beam instead of being below the bumper, and they're 6000k. I dont think going back to regular bulbs is an option considering all the cutting I've done on my stock harness. Well, it would require removing everything and re-soldering, etc. Lots of job.
I think anything above 6000K is asking for police problems...

There is not much truth to that rumor. However the Ontario HTA says headlights must be white. If they are too far into the blue spectrum (10000k+) I could see this happening.

I have an 08 Maxima and it came with halogen bulbs.. I ordered a pair of HID kits for my headlights and fog lights.. Wired them up and they worked fine.. You shouldn't have any problems..
