Sonic can be damaging...

$2,000 damaging . I was pulling through and she backed out of her stall and crunch. Luckily she was really nice and had insurance. Grrr!!!

Yeah, I went to the best auto shop in town and they are probably a little more expensive but you truly get what you pay for. People never look when they back out of there stalls at sonic!

Be happy they stopped and have insurance.

I also wish I had a Sonic nearby. WHen I travel I always look fo a Sonic or an IN and Out burger.

Nothing like it in the Northeast.

eric. the rear bumper fits up perfectly. no modifications needed. sorry to hear about that. i had an accident at a Sonic here in dallas once.. i was parked in my space and the top of the menu FLEW OFF of the board and hit the side of my bumper... needless to say i went POSTAL. i yelled at the manager there and he was offering free food.. i said "**** the food!! i want my **** fixed!!!!" insurance came out, gave me a check for $500, i buffed out the scratch and pocketed the $500

btw, here is a pic of the 07 SE rear bumper.

the 07/08 rear bumpers have a small black rear valence to give it that sporty look and a little more contrast. the SL's are different. like this.

That looks really good. Now is it black or more of a greyish? And I wonder if the auto body shop would do that for me. Some people can be leery of not putting the exact same bumper back on.

Thanks everyone for greeving with me.

It's the same color as the plasic molding that is under your windshield wipers. Like a dark dark grey, black.

Just go to a nissan dealership and see if you can get one. But you will have to have it painted.

with 2k you could buy the whole gtr kit and the hood included. Add a couple hundred for a Macco Paint Job and your set. Make sure you get the paint job that has 3 years coverage from deffects. It's like 500 dollars. After all is said and done you might throw 300 dollars at it out of pocket but have a whole new car. Just something to think about.

Thats true, but the upper fender is damaged too. You can't just replace that one. And this paint job is a lifetime warranty, not just 3 years. 100% guaranteed. So they say...

I just don't know if they will replace the whole back bumper or what they plan to do. The bottom bumper isn't near as bad as the rear quarter panel. If they don't replace it, I don't have the money to pay for the 07/08 bumper. Ill go by and talk to them Monday and see what they have in mind to fix it. The quote was to fix what is there. If I start trying to switch it around it might throw it off.

Would the bumper look out of place?

I reviewed my quote they gave me and it looks like they may repair the current bumper. Maybe I can talk them out of it.

Great link. I just checked and they opened a Sonic 15 miles away. Now when it isn't freezing out it will be the first time I go there.

And by the way, see what money they will send the body shop and then see what kind of deal the shop will give you on replacing the bumper. With the labor hours to fix it maybe you can pay the difference instead and get the bumper you want. The shop will still make money on installing and painting.

They should, the rear bumper is a flex bumper and in order for them to properly fix the damage they would have to use a heat process which is time consuming and expensive, it's actually cheaper to buy the replacement, paint, and swap out!!!

Now that the insurance is out of it you can go to that shop or anyhere esle that you want. The shop will be happy to substitute a new bumper. It's easier for them since they dion't have to mess with the damaged one and they can charge you more.

Good Luck

True. You have to take it somewhere you can trust. There are many hackers out there. Anybody can do ok body work. It hard to find a place that does excellant paint work.

I use to work selling auto paint supplies in PA and out of 100 shops that I sold to I can honestly say there was only 5 shops I would trust my car with and only 2 that had world class painters.

Bottom line is to go to someone you trust that you or someone you know has been to.
