2007 Maxima changing display from metric to English?
Hey guys,
I just traded my 2004 Maxima in on a nice 2007 but for the life of me I can't figure out how to change the display from metric (degrees centigrade and kilometres) to the good old English degrees F and mph.
It was easy in the 2004 to toggle back and forth with the E/M switch.....the 2007 owners manual shows how to change the display if you have the on board navigation system but nothing for the standard display. The owners manual even shows a picture with degrees F showing in the standard, non navigation, set up.
Also I notice that the joystick control is missing in the 2007....the 2004 definitely had one with 'Enter' written on top. It was necessary to use this control to reset miles to oil changes and tire rotation.
Even the dealer couldn't help.....any suggestions?

I gone thru the search feature and read other postings about my question....should I then assume that I'm SOL?
Has anyone any info about a dealer having the computer program to access the display unit?
Thanks for looking.

The problem is that Nissan revamped the dash and display consul in 2007 and the only way you can now get the old style (do it yourself) change all the systems display is to buy the navigation system. Even the 2008's and 2009's now lack the old style display.
My old 2004, without the nav, had the joystick and I could climb into the system settings to set up my maintanance schedule, headlight delays and all kinds of wierd and wonderful things. It also had an E/M button so I could toggle back and forth from a metric display to good old English.
My 2007 manual shows both systems with only a reference but no instructions on how to change the display from metric to English....easy if my 2007 had the navigation option because it's all there in black and white.
From reading old postings about the same problem it appears as if dealers have the program to hook into the on board computer sysytem and change the display and settings.
The dealer from who I bought this 2007 is in the dark and their service department knows nothing about it.
If anyone on this forum has gone to a dealer with a 2007, a 2008 or even a 2009 to have someting in the systems settings changed I would appreciate knowing the dealer's name and phone number so I could call them and inquire.
Nissan has to do it at the factory before they ship the units English to the USA and good old metric to us poor old geezers here in Canada. At 68 years old I still don't understand the metric system....I want to see degrees F and miles per gallon not litres per 100 kilometres.
