Rear Subframe Recall?

My car is at the dealer to have its chronic ABS problem fixed ($350 to clean out corrosion). They needed to keep it an extra day to replace the rear subframe at no cost to me and informed me it was 'cracked'...I did a little research to find that this could lead to the rear suspension falling apart if pushed to the limit?!
I never was informed of the recall...II just searched on here to find it and came up with nothing. Anyone else have this replaced? I am not a mechanic but im guessing the rear subframe is a pretty substantial part of the car, is this like a 50lb piece of steel that costs alot of money they just replaced? Im pretty glad I decided to finally adress the ABS issue and actually thankful i had the dealership do it.

I also see this recall was from February 2006, my car has been at the dealer a couple times since then with no mention of this...very strange. Hopefully the handlign feel will be improved with this replaced, but since im driving a rental cobalt its going to feel alot better anyway.

I guess im the only one with a new rear subframe...anyway the bill said they spent about 5.5 hours of labor time and who knows what the part cost but its a pretty substantial piece.

I wonder if this was done before I bought the car with 48,000 on the clock? There really wouldn't be any way to tell. Will the dealer replace this for free if it happens in 2 or 3 years?

The wtf man? My dealership has seen this car atleast 3x like I said...heck they didnt even mention this when they diagnosed the ABS last month! I havent been on here in awhile due to being busy with my job and house etc. Im a little ticked it took this long, but atleast I had the work done at the dealer and its done now.

Which years are affected, and do you have a link to the recall?

They should be able to check it by the car's serial number. Nissan keeps records of this type of work.

95% of 02-05 altima's and 04-05 maxima's where affected by this recall. the rear subframe is made out of aluminum.

the car squeaks over bumps now after this 'fix', id hate to have to go all the way back to the dealer now since I moved. Does anyone know if this is normal and might go away after things get broken in?

so, the recal has been completed or you would have to bring it to the dealer's attention?

I have taken the car in a few times and they have NEVER said anything to me about this issue....

The job was completed last week - havent driven much due to being sick. I noticed yesterday and today that the car now squeaks over mostly every bump, wondering if this was typical aftery the rear subframe was changed, I dont know if bushings need to break in or whatever.

just brought my car in to get a key cut/programmed. the svc manager informed me of this recall (along with a seatbelt recall). he suggested i leave the car and provided me with a rental with no questions asked.

should be ready tomorrow. i was never informed.

Yeah I had my rear subframe fixed a few years ago. No problems!

I hear you about the ABS issue though. Luckily my actuator didn't burn out, so all they had to do was clean out the sensors/hubs.
