350Z Stillen Stage 1 supercharger on the 6th gen max.... Hmmmm?

Hey all .. Ive been quite active this spring with my local Nissan Enthusiast's Car Club and Ive had the pleasure of looking really close with a members 350Z with a stage 3 Stillen Supercharger. His 350z is an auto ... like my 06 max. Walking back and forth between our cars and even looking at the ECM harness, fuse box, and vacuum set ups ... they are identical. The Stillen 350Z stage 1 kit is a piggy back type ECM control, has a 7th injector mounted in the intake for additional fuel. Further investigation revealed we even use the same injectors on the VQ. I think this is doable but Ive not been able to find a single hint of someone even posting an enquiry if this is even doable in the 6th gen forums. I even googling this idea. Im ready for the next step and its a $4100, practically a bolt on mod with no tuning needed (the piggy back module pre programmed) What you guys know about this?

PS here is the install instructions for the Stage 1 on a 350Z ... front of the motor is identical .. although of course against the passenger fender

Good luck. I'm excited to see how this turns out. I will say I'm not a huge fan of an automatic sports car.

The configuration will be different because the 350Z / Maxima engines are mounted different. And of course it can be done, they have successfully SC an Altima, why not a Max!!!

The stock tranny won't be able to handle that much added power for long. At least, I highly doubt it.

Yeah, the AT will inevitably fail but that's the least of the issues. Some fabrication will need to be done. I'd like to see if you can actually get the system lined up right. IIRC, the accessory layout on the FWD VQ is different from the RWD VQ, which would require you to make a custom bracket for the pulley. Not to mention, you'll need a custom intake made since the RWD plenum would put the inlet forward.
Be a pioneer and do it!
This guy on the other forum is the only 3rd gen Altima with a S/C: http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/eng...-complete.html and i'll bet that it's making the same power as mine (under low boost).

good luck

The Stillen blower has proven to be one of the least efficient on the G/Zs anyway, that's probably why most of them are using Vortech or ATI Prochargers.

You'd be better off trying to replicate what that Alti did than make a Z/G kit, or go the custom turbo route like Chernmax, at least from a cost efficiency perspective.

They said a turbo could not be installed on a 6th gen. and chernmax said I am going to do this mod. Now he is the 1st and only one with turbo. If you have the time and money anything can be done. Good luck if you decide to go this route.

I like the idea, I am worried about the tranny too. Why not look at the S/C the Altima's are running? It seems most of the research and developement is done for us already. The Altima is a more similar set up to ours than the 350z.

What is the purpose? If it's speed ie 1/4mi then why not consider a NOS setup. If its' bragging rights, more power to you. I think a Turbo or S/C Maxima is sweet!

NOS vs S/C: I think the NOS is cheaper (total newb to NOS and S/C) and you can kind of "turn on and off the power" verse a full time S/C set up. Is gas mileage a consideration? My car is still my daily driver so I try to be mindful of everything at once.

I might take a bunch of your guy's suggestion and go research some Altima setups. A friend from my Nissan club said that he called Stillen last year and there was a serious issue with the EGR and it wouldnt work on the Max. (He has an Altima SER) I'll keep digging and see what I can come up with. Thanks guys for your input and ideas

BTW, motor mount is also in the way, as well as the aforementioned pulley layout differences.

Custom-fab FTW!
