Ordered the parts needed to make my manifold back exhaust.

Instead of getting a y-pipe and then getting a catback, I decided to go a different route that should be cheaper and make more power.
This was inspired by DeusExMaxima's single exhaust setup.

Here is what I ordered:

-2 2.25" 180 degree mandrel bends
-Flowmaster merge collector 2 2.25" to a single 3" outlet (makes the most power out of any y-pipe collector I have seen.)
-3" dynomax bullet muffler (using this as a resonator)
-2 3" 180 degree mandrel bends
-Magnaflow 12198 muffler

I'm having my exhaust guy cut and weld all this stuff up. I'm guessing he'll probably charge me around $150-200 to do all this.

What do you guys think?

I should get the parts this next coming Tuesday, then I should be able to take it down to my exhaust guy either Wed, Thurs, or Fri. Depending on how busy he is.

Interesting 263+200 or so for install, we are looking at a little under 500, but the added benefit of more HP. sounds like a great deal to me. Take some pics for the fellas too before/during/after install. Thanks for the update

I'd need some pics of the parts, and layout. I'm not really following what you are doing.

I know the guy very well now. I've taken all of my cars to his shop, and have referred A LOT of friends. I'm thinking it will be around $200.

Basically, he is making me a y-pipe and from the y-pipe back it will be just a single pipe to the rear.
The 2.25" mandrel bends are for the y-pipe bends. The flowmaster merge is to join the two pipes into one. The 3" bends are for the "catback" section. The muffler is...well a muffler lol.

Okay some coming off the stock manifold your still going into a Y-pipe of sorts (2.5) bigger than our stock size (2.25 I believe) and then into an even larger 3" pipe all the way back to one muffler. What about a resonator?

I'm not using any 2.5" piping.

2.25" piping off of each manifold, going into a 2.25" to 3" y merge collector, then a dynomax bullet (resonator), then 3" pipe back to a single magnaflow.

Alright, sorry for the lag guys. Had to get some more money.
Anyways, my exhaust guy is gonna weld it all up on fri and he is doing it for $150.
I'll be sure to post a ton of pictures!

Also, keep in mind im not doing this for the looks, just going for the performance gain. Might not end up looking all that pretty, but I can guarantee it will make more power than any other exhaust available for our car.

Thanks man!

I hope I start a trend. Just showing people that you don't need to spend a **** ton on greddy sp2 exhaust to make power.

Alright got the pics up!

I'll go for power over looks anyday, hence going with the single exhaust. Car is noticeably faster now and sounds ****ing awesome!

Ohh..and this is completely mandrel bent. Free flowing like no other.

Looks like some serious pipes there. I like the idea.

In the house pic I see 4 "J" pipes but in the install pic I don't see any, so he must have cut them off?

Then he just straight cut the manifold pipes where they would typically go into a Y-pipe so from the pics it looks like you don't have any J Bends like this:

That would be the part I really like.

So you eliminated 1 cat added a new resonator and just continue with the 3in back to the single muffler.

I understand performance over looks but I still like the dual muffler look. Either way. So far 2 thumbs up.

No you have to dyno or hit the track and see if your faster. Good job.

I just got the bends so he could cut and weld them. It was either buy mandrel bends or have the bends press bent.

There are quite a few bends, but they are pretty small angles.

That's what I thought. Cool. Can't wait until you test it out. If the butt dyno is telling you anything, then you picked up at least 10-12whp.

I also suspect the sound is tolerable, if you ever end up with headers you might need a bigger resonator, but that's just a guess.

It's probably more than 10-12whp. Feels pretty damn good!

It's actually pretty loud right now, but I don't plan on getting headers.

If your pre-cats fail, and I believe the eventually will. You may consider them on cost saving alone.

Looks like the whole thing for parts would be less than a catback. Install might be a bit expensive, some custome bends + hanging & welding. Krazy looks like he got a nice price at $150.

I'd like to see more pics where it comes together off the manifold. This looks like one of the best ideas I've seen. I wish we had some before and after dyno numbers.

I'd have to to Y it out to two mufflers though, the one muffler is the only thing I'm not feeling with this set up.

I wonder how it sounds?
