Well a lot of us have donated our cars for use as test beds for products and receive parts or substantial discounts. Also, I do my own work so my labor is free but for my time, whatever thats worth ($250 an hour as an attorney but not sure what it is as a mechanic). Sometimes I have had to rent a car while the car is down so there is that out of pocket expense. Also, would you count the sales of parts as an offset?
Way to much but I'd guess somewhere in the ball park of 5-8k? Stereo, rims, go fast mods. Some of it I consider necessary, ie when my pre-cats burned out, I had to fix those so I went with the headers, brake time I went with drilled and slotted. Stock grille beat up, replace with SS grille.
Cat backs etc are pure luxury expenses, but then again I sold my stock catback on Craigs list. I always sell my extra parts, I do consider that an offset in the grand scheme of things.

i found it better not to keep track.... keeps everybody sane and happy... i just enjoy the beauty of your creation... because if you start to tell the woman that i am about to spend 200 on some end links...then its what are those, whats wrong with the ones you have... i cant get my shoes for 200 lol..so i find it better to spend it in small increments and dont think about the total investment...
I would have to say 8k so far. I still think I am doing awesome though concidering I paid 23500 for the car back in 04, while most were paying 32000 for the same car around that time. That's how I sell it to the wife.
Plus thinking about dropping another 4500 on a level 10 tranny soon. I only make about $7 an hour after taxes, however that is 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Military a sure way to get paid and keep somewhat a sense of job security. Just because you make more money doesn't mean you have more money. More money, more problems, and more bills.

I've spent over $15Gs... from exterior redo, suspension, wheels, performance, maintenance (nothing major, just dealer recommended), redo of exterior again (in progress now), sound system, etc...
Probably around $3500.00

Even if you billed only 1 hour daily for an entire work week consisting of 5 days, youd still be earning more money than the average full time american employee!

Required Expenses: oil changes, brake pads F&R (got lucky, picked up Nissan OEMs off Criag's List for $40!!!), new battery,
Discretionary Expenses: A full set of McNeill rubber mats F&R...about $100.
Some extra cash has gone into the Corvette but I am finished with that too.

Unless someone is trying to gauge the cost of doing a particular upgrade, this thread will not give people a realistic idea of cost based on different taste, performance, goal, or types of mods people are doing verse the amount of years they have been working on their cars.
Lets say I spent 18k and 20 people fall out their chairs (but it's been over 6 years) verse a person who spent 10K (and that was in a 1 year period). Lets add the guy who had a stock Max for 3 years and flipped it so essentially he did nothing to his Max but has an endless car note, how much has he spent or in my opinion wasted?
Money spent on a car is not important, whats important is if those cost were within your individual means/budget and you are happy!!!
