What year did you BUY your 6thgen

I joined 11-22-2004 with just after I got my 05. There were a decent number of 6thgen 'ers' back then but there are a ton of new people joining now. Its cool, lots of people doing stuff to their cars, learning from the experiences (good and bad) of others, bringing new insights.

I think it would be interesting to know when people got their Maxima and what year the car is.

I joined in Nov of 04 too. Not sure of exact date though. It has been interesting to see people come and go.

my first maxima was a 3rd gen...89 GXE. drove that since high school til sopomore yr of college or so. the tranny died so i figured time for a new ride! it wasn't worth putting any more money into the old max, so it had to be retired.

shopped around and finally picked up my 06 gen in december of 05. but i've been around here for awhile...

Bought my 05 SE in Oct 08 with 44,000 km on her, hardly broken in yet.
Just replaced six coil packs at a cost of $1300.00. That hurt.

Have no idea why u would have to replace all 6 coil packs & Why would it hurt ???

Was it not covered under warranty, I hope you took it to the dealer ?

Anyways, back to the main thread.

Bought my 1st Maxima 86 fully loaded in 1995, (the one's that have the on board voice that comes on, "LEFT DOOR IS OPEN" or "FUEL IS LOW".

Sold that and got a 95 max loaded, got motor replaced, struts brakes and alot more, & someone ran into the back of me & her ins co. wrote it off, and paid me book value, kind of SUX.

Now have a 04 max SL, bought in nov 87 with 51k now has 113k, nice ride but having the trannny judder when coming to a stop.

Yes I took it to the Stealership but no it wasn't covered under warranty.
I was sure it was a MAF Sensor and I removed mine and cleaned it, the problem would go away for a while then right back again.
When I took it in they told me it was getting multiple misfire code and I needed all coil paks changed. I asked why all had to be changed he said because the ground strap on the battery was holding on by about three wires and it was best to replace all.
If $1300.00 doesn't hurt you, then next time I'll give you a call and you can pay for it.
Sorry for stealing the thread but I can't start my own yet and I needed to vent!

Did not mean to offend you, just found it abnormal to have ALL 6 coil packs need replacing AND have it cost you (especially with only 27000 miles on the clock), maybe the senior members may able to confirm (what does the ground strap have to do with replacing ALL 6 coil packs).

If indeed the stealer did take u, I'd contact nissan HQ and try and get the 1300 back.

Again I apologise if I offended u, and again to the thread starter, did not mean to veer off the topic.

Good luck with the $1300, hope u get some, or all of it back.

Got mine JULY 4th 2008 with 25 miles on it, 29500 out the door. Been driving it ever since I left the dealership and 31000 miles into it, I am still in it every chance I get. Its done a lot of out of city trips and one out of state. Still handling like new!

Hey MikeAus
No offence taken, I was kinda wondering myself what the strap had to do with it and why all six but I also wanted my wheels back and figured I could get some answers here.
Alas, I can't start my own posts yet. Still a newbie...
I will start a thread soon and thanks for the response.

Lots of purchases in the last few year but I'm still suprised by the some of the other years as well. 7 in 03? and only 2 in 04?

For my GF, I bought the 07 Maxima brand new in May 2007 after dumping the 12mpg 2006 Explorer. The 07 has 43,000. highway commuter miles and runs very well. Just put new tires and brake pads on. Should be good for another 40,000+ miles.

All hell broke loose on me with tickets ever since I put on my body kit. 3 tickets in 1 weekend, which started a week after I put my body kit on. Cops watch me like eagles for some damn reason, so I definitely feel that pain lol.
