2007 Bumper loose... am I missing something?

I just purchased a 2007 SL and when washing it the other day I noticed that the front bumper seemed a little loose. I can move it up and down a 1/4 to 1/2 inch. I looked all around and found only push fasteners holding it on.

I found this but don't see any screws? Any way to tighten it.

Bumper removal:
1.) Remove 4 screws (2 each side) on the bottom of the bumper, below where the cornering lights are. These hold the plastic undercarriage pieces to the bumper.
2.) Remove plastic "skid plate" by removing plastic "screw bolts" (like the ones that hold the grill on under the hood). I believe there's like 5 across the bottom.
3) There 2 screws on each side that hold the bumper in place (just below the headlights) Turn your wheel all the way to the left (for passenger side) Pull back the fenderwell to gain access behind the bumper. 1st screw/bolt is right there by the edge and the 2nd is furthur down about 3/4 to the front of the headlamp assembly.
3.) Under the hood, there's the plastic clips/bolts that hold the grill and bumper in place, you don't have to remove the grill from the bumper if you don't need to. Remove the plastic clips farthest to the outside. This should release the bumper from the car completely. (oh and first remove the plastic air duct thing that flows air to the intake)

when i did my 07 bumper swap. I broke a plastic piece that attaches to the bumper right where the headlights are...the bumper has an oval type hole about 10mm that clips on to a plastic piece that is mounted i think to the frame of the car. that may be it

it could be that clip triplet mentioned but it should have been screws instead of push clips...

there should be two screws on each side on the front (you should be able to see/locate it within the first 12 inches from the fenderwell where the fender meets the bumper)..

the clips that triplet mentioned should be located right below each headlight in the front.. bumper should come loose when you pull the bumper backwards (of course after removing the screws first)..

uhhh..not yet...i'll take a pic when i do the wiring for the fogs i got

basically if you did the 07/8 bumper swap, look at your headlights and look direct below it, you will see "the gap" that everybody speaks and right behind there is where that clip is located. The clip snaps to the radiator support (i think thats what its called) which in turns clips to the bumper, holding it in place. One for each side

So where exactly is your bumper loose? If you have both screws on the fenders in there and the clips up on top by the grill, it shouldn't be able to move too much. I'd check all those spots and go from there...

Well, I noticed a little gap between the headlights and bumper when I was washing it, and I just went over and grabbed the lower part of the bumper with two hands and tried to lift it up gently to see if I could close the gap a little bit. I was surprised at the amount of upward movement that the bumper had. So I opened the hood, and looked for screws/bolts to see if I could tighten as I lifted up. The only thing I saw was push fasteners. holding the grill to the frame and what appears to be the grill to the bumper.

I haven't had time to pull back the wheel well and see if anything is loose under there. I was pretty surprised that I didn't see bolts on the top toward the center. The "A" on the pic are all push fasteners and all the weight just hangs in front, it seems as though there should be some sort of bolts in the middle where the grill is etc.

I'm gonna try look at it a little more indepth this weekend, maybe one of those "clips" you guys are talking about has come undone or broken.

i have an 08 and never had that problem... but if it the "looseness" is by the headlight and the bumper, then its probably the clip that triplet has mentioned... imo, you should replace it asap as it could put stress on your other screws/bolts/clips and, in time, may cause further "looseness" somewhere else around the bumper area..
