I havent heard anything but bad stuff about replacing tranny on 04's.
Trade it/Sell it and buy a newer Max or a different car but my advise is when the tranny goes...the car goes

Join Angie's List to find a reputable independent trans shop. Or ask your dealer about one. Make sure you get a decent warranty. If it's noticeably bad right now, you could trade it (as another poster suggested). If you have no conscience, sell it to a little old lady without telling her about it...

Dang that stinks bro. Have you asked the dealer how much they want to do the job? Call all of them in your town.

Out of curiosity, how many miles and how hard did you drive the car...and how many miles were on the car when you aquired it. I am on 97,000mi on my 04 and the tranny works the same as when I bought the car.
Kbb says the trade in value of the car is 8,500 give or take...so yeah, if the fix is $3,000 and it still works good enough to trade it in DO IT.

Or... you could just take it easy on your investment so you don't dump any more costly transmissions.

Ok I did replace tranny fluid twice.... first drain and fill run it for like couple of miles then drain and fill again and still still have a hard shift first to second.... and one of my friendsaid that's prolly one of the sensor but he's not sure we're is it at? Any of you guys knows any of this sensors? And I went to nissna to ask how much a new tranny and they said 3,600 and I got coated buy a shop 600 to install the new tranny... is that cheap or expensive?

Ii sounds like in your particular situation with a kid on the way and still having 12g's you owe on the car that replacing the tranny is the best choice. 100,000 miles is not the end of that cars life by any means, get a new tranny for the best possible deal with a good warranty and take care of that engine.

Of course you can get them cheaper. They are no longer making Pontiac anything. So buy now for cheap and pay later for parts. Of course the basic parts will be available just not the bodyparts and interior stuff. other than that you should be good. I would wait about 5 more months or so when the prices really drop. G/L either way

See if the techs can reprogram the TCM , it may help your shifts out since you just flush the fluids.. as long as its not banging 3-2 shifts , then theres a chances the TCM is off.

Also if you can DIY , added some more Ground wires from the tranny to the chasiss

You really don't want to reprogram the TCM as I learned it will only hide the problem which will still exsist. The tranny problems are within the mechanical build not the TCM programming. If you reprogram to a bad transmission, it will still be a bad transmission covered up. Once the TCM is reprogrammed and you start to see a problem it will be way to late. The TCM is set when you put a new transmission in for a reason. To control the transmission at it's best state. When it's changed to fix a bad transmission then it looks at the bad transmission as it's best state. I recommend not reprogramming the TCM. Unfortunately I can't help with how you can get it fixed.

What does it mean if my tranny is currently doing that? My car will shift hard from neutral to first even after waiting a couple seconds(like 15+) and into 2nd or even 3rd sometimes. I wouldn't personally swapping to a manual transmission set up since I actually prefer to drive like that but I have no idea where to start or even what's wrong with my tranny. I've taken it to the dealership, they say they serviced and lubed it so I rode off a couple thousand miles later, still doing the same thing.

Help someone? haha

www.ATFspeed.com

They are working on a full replacement tranny oil cooler and VB for the 5AT.

Give them a call or Email and get them more inquiry.

The owner said he would be willing to work something out but we need some more intrest.

They did a Altima SE-R 5AT recently using my tranny

There's also Level 10:

Give both ATF and L10 a call...

If you're determined to keep the car, I'd have either one of them help you out... otherwise, just unload it, honestly.

I'm just not sure if it's under warranty. If it's not then I'll give them a call but I need to do something because my tiptronic 5AT is killing me. I'd much rather swap to a manual instead of deal with an auto *I much prefer a manual*.

ATF seems to be reputable and dependable. Only thing is that I need the tranny asap.

If I could get my hands on a manual that would work I'd be willing to do the work that's needed for this job over the weekend.
