Missing my maxima..... some vid from Mosport in the new ride.

Basically its like this;

The Maxima was epic with all the mods I had on it, It ran a stock EvoX down on the straights like it was nothing but I would loose it on the long sweepers to the Evo and the back end would come loose.

Now in the new ride the experience is similar yet different. The stock EvoX is a slow hunk of metal out of the box.............so we just install the Cobb AP stage 2 map and gain 60WHP Yes its that easy.

Here are some vids out of Mosport GT track from the event, I reflashed my car with a stage 2 map whilst not telling my friend who incidentally has the exact same car that I did so. He has R compound tires...... you can read about it here:

http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17541

Onto the vids.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JL1CoW-pD7c
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-iH9wFDxm8

I do miss the Maxima it was a way more comfortable ride.......but adding 60whp with a click of a button is something everyone has to experience.

My friend Ray, has the exact same car as me.........well its more like I have the exact same car as him, as I traded the Maxima 3 days after driving his car............. and two days ago he finally got the Cobb Access Port and we reflashed his car to stage 2. Basically to an Evo FQ-360, the grin on his face is priceless.

Missing you guys, hopefully all the peeps that bought stuff off me are enjoying the upgrades.

All the best folks,

Kamski

Regarding Kamski's language while racing: I know from my own experience road racing that you get pretty excited out there and the adrenaline is pumping. When you want to pass someone and they are trying to stop you (they arent supposed to stop you in this kind of racing), then its easy to get upset. I remember one time racing at Laguna Seca raceway in my 1974 Mazda RX4, and a guy in an Alfa was trying to stop me from passing. We ended up flipping each other off while we were racing. He came over to my pit area afterwards and I was ready to lay him out when he extended his hand and said "Nice job out there."

That's road racing.

LMFAO!! Thats awesome!! HAHAHAH, yes this car is pretty amazing......for most things........ not for the daily commute though.

Not to mention, I used to get about 650km out of a tank of Gas in the maxima... that was 60L. 9L/100Km

I'm getting an average of 260-290km out of a 50L tank in the Evo.... thats about 12.5L/100Km.............. my pocket has really felt that one.

So in the days I'm not running at the track I load up the Cobb Economy map that turns off the boost, which essentially turns this car into a POS Honda.. but my L/KM goes down to about 10L/100Km so a pretty good savings.

As for the driving, well I feel best behind the wheel, I always have, I ran the car a few sessions that day with all driver aids off and I was easily able to throw the car around corners sideways. Then I got blackflagged for doing that........so I turned on the driver aids and focused more on my lap times ;-)

And yes, I had to dub over the mustang clip because I lost my mind at one point when he didn't let me pass, so I dubbed it over because I didn't want people to think I was some kind of a mental case....................(STOP.......HAMMER TIME)
LOL^^^^^^^^

This car does feel great on the track, it brakes well, it accelerates hard and its takes the corners like its on glue......but it somehow still feels slow. I managed to get my lap time down to 1:43 at the Mosport GP track, yet after watching a video of a race porches doing it 1:01 I felt like I need more........

In comparison I did the same track last year in my modded maxima in 1:48's average.

If anyone is interested, there is a Mosport Event coming up in September with Kensai Racing. It's a HPDE on the GP track. Google Kensai racing and you can read all about it.

All the best,

Kamski

Mosport looks like a fun track, I'd like to try it sometime.

Anyways I might be going up to Calabogie in the Summer. Some friends of mine from Mass are thinking of making a long trip up there in August. It is still up in the air but if we get in early there is a discount.

Here is the link if you are interested.

Nice videos. I've been thinking of getting an evo. Maybe next summer. Will probably be either a IX or X like yours.

Kamski, Did you eventually pass that black Honda S2000...he was obviously boosted and very fast in the straights...although I think that your superior handling around corners due to the 4WD and better overall balance and more power at all 4 wheels would have eventually finished him off too. Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear loves the Mits Evo and even says that it's a better bargain than the EVO X because it is more civil. I have a friend here in Montreal that has a 2009 RaliArt that he boosted to just over 300 HP!

You''re beating up WRX's and BMW's like it's going out of style is it the car or that the drivers are not as serious?
I beat up a 2004 WRX so bad that he had black smoke coming out of his exhaust while trying...this was done on a private strip...I do not condone street racing.

When you had your Max...did you ever do the UDP, exhaust, Y-pipe, headers and the NWP Spacer and Via Plate? Now we have the Jet Performance Oxygen computer that plugs right in to the car! I hear that we can get another 15 HP out of this setup. Add to that the gains with Cattman headers and a low restriction cat there are some serious HP gains now available overall. The most amazing thing is that after my mods (NWP, UDP, CAI, Custom Exhaust) my gas mileage has increased by over a whoping 30 percent on the highway! I swear that my car used to get around 27 or 28 M/G on the highway while doing 118 Kph...now I get over 36! And I'm not alone, I found out that others here are getting the same too! Anyway Kamski good work and have fun and stay safe. Happy Proseperous, Lucky and healthy new year to you and all my friends here on the org!

Cheers!

People run their cars at different levels. Sometimes it's hard to tell if someone is just taking it easy in their high end sports car or if a guy in a POS is driving really good and going flat out.

Sometimes it is obvious. I've gotten past a Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale on the front straight of Limerock, in my Maxima.

The owner was cool about the track driving. He was taking it easy and barely knew how to drive on a track. The car sure did sound good.

I no longer care if I get past someone or if they get past me. Just as long as everyone drives good and doesn't hold up faster cars behind them. Only if my buddies are on track we will have some friendly competition.

Although I havent taken my Maxima to a formal track, I do race it in autocross and high speed time trials. I have raced cars on tracks and autocross since 1985. I find that it is difficult to determine who is "trying" and who isnt. As far as Im concerned, if your on a track, a kill is a kill. Excuses dont mean much. I am always surprised to find my Maxima at the top of the heap overall at the end of the day in higher speed time trials. These cars have great potential to handle and perform extremely well, and I have said this before. It is more of a sleeper than an Evo or Sti. I believe that most performance from a vehicle comes from the driver, rather than bolt ons or other performance enhancing products. If you take a good driver versus an average driver, and put the average driver in a high performance car (Ferrari, Lambo, Evo, WRX, or whatever etc.) and you put a skilled driver in a Buick Park Avenue, guess who is going to win? I have seen it waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to many times. Buick will cross the line first.
