Water Sloshing sound
hey guys, im trying to figure this one out. when i go to start the car in the morning, i shift to reverse and go slowly, i can hear water sloshing around. sounds like its coming from the pass side around the firewall/dash area. im thinkin it could be that the condensation from the a/c isnt draining but dunno.

if your condensater is not venting out check the back seat passanger side carpet. it would be soaked, how do i know you ask? it happened to me. Do a search i saw a post about this a while back. Good luck

if its coming from the dash... the first question id ask is. have you had the radiator flushed recently? it sounds like there is air in the coolant system and you're hearing the water drop into the heater core.

thx guys..
no, there is no foul smell.
ill check the door. but isnt there a speaker in the door? i have bose.
no recent flush. only thing i did was the nismo radiator cap a few months back. it doesnt sound like a water dropping sound. its sounds like a horizontal movement like a wave. with everything off you can hear it going forward/backward.

Park the car so the front end is much higher than the rear. Open radiator cap WHEN THE CAR IS COOL. fill the radiator with mixture of distilled water and coolant. Start the car and run it and keep filling it until its filled. Problem solved.

I park on the slope of my driveway at the end. Just make sure the front is higher than the rear. U could put a floor jack under the front and get it in the air slightly and that would be more than enough.

hey guys, i got a chance to do this about an hour ago. the radiator was a tad low so i added some distilled water. another note, i noticed that the overflow tank was empty so i added coolant and distilled water.
once the car was on and warmed up i blasted the heat at 90 max blow power. one thing i noticed was that at idle, it was cool air but when i revved up the car to ~2k it was blowing burning hot air.
also i noticed that the radiator had some damp/dried up coolant on the driver side so i was thinking could swapping out to the nismo radiator cap add too much pressure (like .4 bar [~6 psi] extra)? i cleaned it up and going to observe it and see what happens.

How's the cars temp at idle? Is it higher than usual??

yes, i did as he said. i let the car sit overnight. in the morning i jacked up the front end like ~2ft. i let it run with the heater on full blast. i filled up the radiator and resovior. i let it run til the coolant started to come out of the radiator fill hole.
the car temp guage sits a little below half. fyi, i live in tx (hot *** weather)

Hmm i have the same sound coming from mine .. .though i have just been ignoring it. . .you think the dealer would be able to help with an issue like this? And. . does it do any harm in the long run?
#24
i have the same freakin problem with mine sounds like my glove boxx is takin a **** but my coolant levels are fine and i have a greddy info manage system and she reads perfect temps every time. Ps. i would go to the greddy website for the correct name but i love it and i would suggest investing into one, its like your cars able to finally talk to you....

update: i just installed the Mishimoto radiator and Im getting the same issue. i flushed it out 4 times using the old radiator first before installing the new one. i jacked the car 2.5-3 ft, ran it on 90 deg on max blast recirculating for ~15 min. may seem obvious, but do i need to bleed it longer?
#26
I have a 2006 Max and I have the same issue. I'm not sure if it is an issue or a problem as it's been doing that for years. I've had bigger issues (timing chain replaced due to bad guides) and now have P0420 code with pinging at low acceleration and it looks like I'm starting to go through oil a little more than normal.

Check for plastic "plugs" in the bottom of the door. I've had cars that water leaks into the door and can't get out. If there are plugs, pull them out. There's probably a pint or so of water in there.

Did anyone find a reason for this as I am now having the same problem after replacing the radiator and thermostat. Temp rise while the car is cruising on the highway. Im getting really frustrated !
#29
I remember when I had this issue and I did what they said turned the car on filled it with radi fluid and the sound went away...of course its back now again..also my damn oil cooler gasket is leakinga again...Just stupid little issues like this make me hate the car

Yep, I did that today and it didn't seem to fix the problem of my heat going cold when the car is idling, I changed the radiator about 5 months ago, radiator cap because the new mishimoto cap was leaking, thermostat 2 weeks ago and had a coolant flush today and my temps are still rising too high (3/4 way up or higher while crusing at 80 mph on the highway). I had a shop check it out and they couldn't find an issue nor did they find a leaky head gasket that could have been pressurizing the system, The only thing left to do is replace the water pump, I guess nissan will get the $800+ from me for the job
I guess its about time, I just hit 169K.....

True, I got a 400 labor quote from a different mechanic and the water pump from nissan is going to be around 200 so I might as well spend the extra 200 bucks for a piece of mind that the dealership did it right and warranty there work.

You should also replace your timing chains and oil pump while your in there . The pump is right after the primary chain which will have to come off anyway. I would get the water pump and oil pump from ebay to save some money.

In case you want a better name brand part. This water pump is made by gates.

I could be mistaken and will check when I get off work but isnt the top side return hose lower than the radiator? This would make jacking and parking on an incline redundant...

Also I heard it is common for our cars rust really bad on the upper passenger side "floor boards" kinda near where your saying the sound is coming from. You may have water stuck in the floor? Id take a drill and some silicon and punch a small hole in that area. Also try and feel for the water. surprisingly gushing water makes quite a bit of vibration maybe you could pin point it that way?
