CD Changer - Other Audio Question

My CD changer has been what I like to call, jammed, for a while. Everytime I get into the car it acts as if it wants to put a disc in play and then it stops. I cannot take out the cd's or put anymore in.

This weekend, I took out the whole dash assembly and did a run through on the cd changer to see what the problem is. It sounds as if something is not catching that should. Based on these diagnostics, I am thinking I am going to either bring it to someone to get fixed, or get a new OEM from ebay for $150.

This would be a simple fix, however, while I have the whole dash off, I wanted to look into my other options.

I have an 04 SE without Navigation, but have been thinking about getting one of the new all in one, navi/dvd/ipod setup.

I'd like to have it setup so that I just have two screens, the regular screen with mileage and temperature, but also the new system, whatever it may be.

Can anyone give me any suggestions? My brother is into putting systems in, so the installation would most likely be done by us. Any suggestions as to what I should do would be helpful.

Thanks - Drew

there are a couple options you will have. You could get a one din that has a motorized screen, or get a double din which is a stationary screen that moves slightly to allow dvd access. I do not recommend the one din because I have it and within a year it stopped going in and out like it was supposed to. You can find many different double din nav systems. I would do your research on which one has the options you want. I recommend getting one with touchscreen, high resolution, bluetooth, a good gps software, easily upgradable map options. If you have a nav system which keeps the nav software on an sd card, you can upgrade the software to pretty much whatever software you want. I use OCN8 which is awesome and customizable. Make sure it is what you want the first time and don't skimp because they are not cheap and buying a new one because you made the wrong choice the first time sux. Take it from me . Also might want to run your ideas by the guys in the Audio section of this forum. They live for questions like this. Ohh and make sure when installing that you ground the system to a grounding point, and not the black wire which says ground. I made this mistake and blew a fuse which took out all my brake lights and some dash lights because I trusted the wiring diagram from the stereo plug. Hope this helps.

I got the same problem on my 04 maxima bose 6cd system! Once a while the driver side doesn't work. And lately the cd player been acting up, it played for like 15 sec and then just freezed. Even when I changed to another cd it does the same thing. So much for Bose system...piece of ****! and I bought this car brand new too!

ended up going with:

Metra Double Din Dash Kit
http://www.amazon.com/Metra-95-7404S...7796677&sr=8-1

Pioneer AVIC X710-BT
http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_1...+X-710BT&ssi=0

It is all coming in on Wednesday so let's hope it is fairly easy to put in. I went with Crutchfield for their tech support.

Why Cluster Light Dash Light gose Compleatly Off When Headlights are on?

hi..
im new to this site. sorry if i am asking the wrong question at the wrong threat as i am not allowed to post new thread.

i have 04 maxima. Thif stole my car streo with cutting the 2 main stero wiring harness. but good thing he left all the pecies in my car so it was easy for me to put the after market wiring harness. now i ended up installing a after market stero, it works everything is back on, but the problem is when i turn my head lights on .. my cluster light goes off but when i keep my head light offf the light stay back normal.

P.s: when i unplug the electric control computer the lights stay normal even when i turn my head lights on. as we know we can't leave it unplug cuz the car act crazy without it..

so please can any one help me with this problem ... thanks for all of ur time.!
