also check out this thread http://forums.maxima.org/detailing/5...ing-issue.html I used the 3m restore kit and had a bit of trouble at first. I recommend 2000 grit sandpaper and mother's plastic polish. you have to use masking tape to tape around the headlights just in case, so you don't accidently scuff up the paint on the car. Then wet the sand paper, and make sure you keep it wet and don't allow it to buildup. keep wetting and sanding until a slight haze forms. Will look a little cloudy. then dry and apply the polish. Trust me this works. The 3m kit ruined my lights and this process saved them and about $1,000 of my hard earned money. The sandpaper is pretty much just paper. not rough at all but enought to get the job done. remember to keep it wet.

That is what happened to me with the 3m kit. I am trying to warn you guys about it. Use my method, it will fix the problem. I was in your shoes with the 3m thing and this was recommended to me so I said WTF why not can't get worse. It fixed the problem completely. Good luck and any questions just ask.

If its to the point where you are considering new lenses, find a real auto detailer (NO drive-through B.S.). At our shop we have to do this at least once a day. We do almost exactly as po8pimp said but we use a high speed buffer with a finishing pad to finish the job. With the 3M resto kit they provide you with what we call a cutting pad, the problem is you cant finish with a cutting pad. A cutting pad will leave it looking even but still hazy. If you are going to try it yourself the only thing I would add is to soak the wetsanding paper for 15 minutes in water and car wash soap prior to wetsanding. Use the soapy water as your lubricant to wet sand. My .02 is find a quality detailer and you will save a lot of time, effort and money.

Just buy some Brasso, mask off the paint around the headlight and buff it out.

I tired a couple of different kits (not the 3m one) but they never came out good. I just had them professionally done and they look like new, $20 per light. Best money spent!!!
