great day gone bad
got off work early so i was happy then i got into a car accident.
took out the right headlight, right front fender, and bend the top of my right front wheel in and bent the axle and could have bent the frame. then the other vehicle did some damage to my right front passenger door.
just waiting on the insurance company to see just how much the damage will be.

Are shops required to report all work to carfax? is there a $ amount that must be reached? what are the rules surrounding that?
I got rear-ended a few months ago and then again yesterday is it going to look like my car was constantly in and out of the shop. both weren't my fault and both were minor (just took paint off the bumper) but is it going to look like i was constantly running into stuff.

shops dont report it. the insurance company does. it also give a decent explanation of what happened.
and i understand not wanting any reports ofyour car on carfax. but thats just wrong if you ask me..

Liability, Insurance didn't pay for my car, I did. Bodyshops don't care. They will fix a bent frame and let you drive the car going sideways.

Sorry about your accident. But glad you made it ok. I hope you get your car fixed. Though it will never be the same.
Whether your car is reported to carfax or not, when selling your car, be kind to disclose as much as you can to prospective buyer. If you decide to conceal some information about your car and it is a knowledgeable buyer, they might get you to say some stuffs and it will not look too good. I personally feel it is good to report stuffs like, I got a new engine, got new transmission or whatever. I believe it assures the buyer that most parts are new or that parts have been replaced. By the way, I might be wrong, but I think most private buyers do not pull up carfax reports before buying a used car.

just got back from the body shop to sign off on repairs. majority of the damage is cosmetic thank god.
needs a new right headlight (thank god i dont have xenon's, that would be an extra 600 to fix that) new fender and front bumper possibly. right strut and knuckle joint need to be replaced. frame didnt appear to be bent at all and the passenger doors need new "skins" put on.
all total roughly 5-6k in repair costs. thank god for insurance.

there is nothing more irritating than newbies posting and bumping old threads. i know you need some post count so you can start your own threads but for hells sakes there are more than enough new threads to post on that posting on old ones is just plain unacceptable in my opinion.
