Question about rotors...

Hey guys. Its been a long while since I have posted here, but I still have my 04 Maxima with 127,000miles in it. Anyways, it's been problem-free so far except for the OEM rotors which I already had resurfaced 3x in the span of 5 yrs since I owned it. My question is, should I have it resurfaced again (due to "shimmy" in steering wheel when braking) or should I just have them replaced. And if I'll have them replaced, should I put in new brake pads too?

Thanks guys!

have you ever changed the rotors before? if not then you should change the rotors. If you decided change the rotors then you should changed the pads also so they can wear evenly so you wont have to resurface the rotors a few months later when you have to change the pads just my .02.

definitely just replace the rotors...hop on ebay and get a decent set of blanks or D&S rotors plus pads and do all four....don't waste your money on resurfacing.....

Definately invest your money in new rotors, don't even bother resurfacing your rotors. And yes, you might as well change your brake pads while your down there. I personally have Rotorpro Rotors with EBC red brake pads with no issue. Other people have the hawk pads, and some people use EBC rotors. Good luck joe!

Buy decent rotors. If not, you'll be resurfacing the new rotors soon.

Replace them, I went with Napa Ultra Premium rotors and Napa pads. Way better than stock.

How did they resurface the rotors 3 times when you shouldn't do it more than once? Those rotors probably will crack in half pretty soon.

You cut the rotors 3 times? I wouldn't go more than once. Get new rotors.

You could order the FRONT OEM replacements made by "Kiriu" from IRP in the GD's here on the forum for about $130 shipped. The rotors are painted at the hub too. I would have ordered them but ran into some timing issues, so I just bought some Autozone rotors. They have been performing well with Hawk HPS pads, which were about $70 shipped from www.performancepeddler.com with the "MAXIMA" discount code. Installing the parts took about 1.5 hours, and it was the first time I ever attempted to install front brakes myself. **Air tools helped a bit, but a breaker bar will suffice. I hope that helped the OP out.

On my 08 Max with 47K I experience a little shimmy'ing as well, I think i'll just buy some quality rotors and put some green stuff pads on with them.

I am also for looking for a decent set of Front Rotors. My wife's 07 SE has the Shake and Bake Syndrome. It started around 20k miles and now at almost 32k miles it seems to be getting a lot worse. I was going to go Autozone but heard that they start rusting if you don't paint the hat and I don't really want to mess with painting anything.
Is there a link to a decent set of Front Rotors. Just Solid not slotted or drilled.

I'm looking to have my brakes done. hearing a little noise on the rear brakes, but no shimmy or vibration during braking. I checked on ebay and found some good deals on D&S rotors and pads. Has anyone here had any issues with the D&S rotors and pads offered on ebay?

Guys, also check the group deals section here too... give fellow members some business!

I have front/rear slotted RTP rotors, which can be found here:

http://forums.maxima.org/group-deals...nes-fluid.html

And PBR/Axxis brake pads (Ultimates) which can be found here:

http://forums.maxima.org/group-deals...luxe-plus.html

Both products and sellers are great. I've had the rotors on my car for several years (one of the first mods I did after having the OEM rotors turned within the first 6 months of owning the car).

I just installed my own brakes and rotors with Autozone Rotors and C-Max Gold Ceramic Brake pads. It was pretty easy and I actually like the quality of the Autozone Rotors and the pads which come with all the necessary brake hardware like new clips and brake lube for the sliders.

Anyway, I have a question. My wife has been driving with the parking brake on at times and the parking brake cable is pretty stretched. Is there anyway to tighten that cable?

Thanks for any info on adjusting the parking brake.
