Having some problems with my car!

Hello all,

so I have been searching these forums and have gotten some answers, hoping for some more.

I have a 05 maxima with 80,000 miles on it. I bought it at 70K, and now I am having some issues with it that are more annoying than anything else. The car still drives great.

1) When I accelerate upto 40MPH, the car is very loud. It seems like there is loud "fan" going off.
2) Whenever i go over bumps, the front passenger tire side makes a creaking noise.
3) Today, I noticed that even when parked, the engine compartment was making a weird noise (kind of like a screeching);
4)The 12V charger port is not working; I checked the fuse and it's not that.

I took it to a mechanic last week and he said that #2 is b/c of bad struts and #1 is b/c my bearings are damaged. He quoted me like $600 for the repairs. Needless to say, i got out of there.

So, I want to get your opinions, on what could be going wrong and if it's indeed the struts and bearings, where can I get the parts cheaper than the stores.

Also, can I change the 12V port by myself. Please guide me how to do this.

Thanks in advance,

u try removing the power port and seeing if its securly connected on the back and nor corroded? also there may be more than 1 fuse for different lighter sockets so check the rest. and ^^^ above true about the KYB AGX struts and shocks great product. Highly recommended I have them in my max with Progress lowering springs. You have to closly look into ur engine bay when u hear the sound when its parked and find the source directly.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will look into the KYB GR2 Struts (the AGX are MAD expensive); I am looking to spend that kind of money.

What about the bearings? Is there any particular brand that I should look out for? Someone told me about Moog's. Are there other brands?

Depending on which power socket isn't working you got two fuses to check, three if you have the elite.

All are 15amp fuses.

One under the dash, two if you have the elite. For the power socket by the gear selector fuse#7 and fuse#17 if you have the elite. Fuse#7 being blown will also cause the power socket with the elite not to work as well. Also the power ports will not work when the key is off.

If its the power socket in the front center console check fuse#28 in the fuse box under the hood by the battery. Power port works all the time.

Hello,
Sorry for cross posting. I'm not allowed to open a new thread yet. Need urgent suggestion on my problem:

I've a 2005 Nissan Maxima. It starts and runs fine. The problem is its NOT locking anymore. It has a central locking system and only operates using a Remote to unlock from outside (Manual lock broke and stuck inside driver side door long ago).

Security light (RED) indicator inside the Car is On. Battery is good. Battery on the remote is also good, but car is not responding to it. The door locks get opened after I lock them manually and close the door. While Engine is running the doors keep locked once they are locked.

It suddenly started doing this last night? Anybody has faced similar issues? Appreciate your help
