hey bud - I was going to take out mine last oil change, but was worried like you are so I took it to my mechanic. He said there is no special way to remove the filter and/or clean it.

It took him like 5 mins after the oil change to check on it/clean it out.

Hope this helps man

Remove the wheel, pull back the wheel liner and pull it off throught the bottom end.

As long as you dont unplug the MAF sensor you wont trip any CEL lights.

If you haven't already, pick up a K&N filter recharge kit, the instructions are on the box.

Or... you could do what I did,

Makes cleaning a breeze...

The downside of living in a condo - next house I get has to have at least a 2 car garage

"Cleaning the air filter is simple and can be done using soapy, lukewarm water, and let air dry. The Super Flow High Performance Air Filter™ contains a synthetic fiber that does not contain any oil."

I bought a 2nd Fujita filter because one of the biggest things you have to watch out for is that the cleaned filter has to be completely dry before you put it back on the car.

You can use a K&N filter cleaning kit and just follow their directions.

1. Remove filter. ( I don't take out MAF or anything)
2. Spray on K&N cleaner, let is soak for a few minutes.
3. Rinse with warm water, not high pressure.
4. Let filter dry completely and reinstall.

With the extra filter, I don't have to have the car down while the filter dries.

Every time I change my oil I clean the MAF and the butterfly in the TB and the filter..If you haven't done that you should...Car will rev a little at first but it should come back to normal. You get a better response from the intake I think. Disconnect the battery 1st if you do that....

I've cleaned many filters in my 15 years round this scene and have cleaned many filters. I don't buy that cleaner crap because it's too expensive and no need for it. I always use simple green, let the filter soak in it for about 5 minutes and then rinse with warm water from inside out. Then use a blow dryer for faster dryor let it sit in the sun for about an hour if in no hurry. Never had any issues.

I don't even remove my wheel. Just turn it all the way left and you should have enough room to remove wheel well plastic and the filter is right there to the left of the drivers side wheel. Takes 5 min.

Has anyone purchased a replacement filter. I don't see any fujita filters for sale. Mines is pretty banged up after 10 years.
