Power Wire

Im hooking up a waterfall style led trail on my headlights and I want it be wired so that it comes on when the car is on and off when I turn it off. I was told I need to attach the positive wire to the cars power wire. Can someone tell me or show me where it is?

Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert...

You will need to find a switched power source that is on when the key is on and off when the key is off. Get a voltmeter out and start checking. You should be able to tap into one of the existing light power sources. If all else fails, run your power wire to your fuse panel under the dash and tap in there. Find something like your windshield wiper fuse (or other) that is powered when the key is on. Just make sure that you know the amperage requirements for the lights so you don't overload the circuit.
