It will always make a rattling noise, especially if you blast your speakers. There's no real way of stopping it completely just because there are no screw connecting it to the base to firmly put it in place. Memory foam worked for me, but once in a while I still hear a rattle now and then....

OR
If that doesn't help, you could do what my friend did.
Remove the brake light, just pull it out, it comes off rather easily. cut the cables and for each one, either tape each end with black wire tape or you can go to your local electrical store and get 2 wire nut connectors and use one for each end. and that will end your rattling noise for good.

Push up on the inside edge of the light.

It will pop out then just disconnect the plug.

Don't mess with cutting any wires... lol

Most states require you to have that 3rd brake light. You will become a target for the Po Po.

Well, what I'm planning to do is...

install and have the Bentley-style third brake light.

Well, I found one guy from the Altima coupe org who already did this. He got a thin low intensity led strip. I want to find the OEM third brake-light... haven't done all the research yet, but I'll get on it soon.. and I'll post pics of the install.. I'll probably deactivate the 3 brake light on the taillight once I install the Bentley one..
